I love Van Halen but can't stand the hagar Era, they went from fun party rockers to a band that only has sad love songs

The Eagles. Didn't enjoy the early 70's stuff but really liked them from 1975 and on under Walsh.
Elvis: Liked his late 60's and 70's stuff, not so much the 50's-early 60's.
Genesis: Loved their earlier albums with Peter Gabriel, not so much the later ones with Phil Collins.

And I'm not a big fan of 80s music, so several 70's rock bands didn't transition well to the 80's, IMO because they adopted the sound.

I think everyone does. Van Halen is a common one.
Pre-Black Album Metallica is another.
Blink 182 started weak, hit a sweet spot for a couple albums, then dropped way off.
Early, fun Green Day was way better than later emo Green Day

Agreed! How about wartime Metallica (first 4 albums)? What about Dickinson Iron Maiden but not the others (although I like DiAnno too)?

Punk era AFI.
First 3/4 albums era Santana (70s albums, not 80s).
First 3 Slipknot albums.
The Smiths over Morrissey?

I wouldn't say I hate any given era of a band, but I used to love Depeche Mode, and their last couple albums have left me completely cold (which is true for a lot of their fans - most people agree they've sort of been on autopilot for a while now).

For me in general, if I like/love a band and they go in a direction I dislike I just become more apathetic to them more than I outright hate them. I don't obsess over how great they used to be and how it's somehow a personal betrayal that they're not still catering to my preferences, I just move on and listen to other stuff.

I'd argue that their music was much better in general in the Hagar era.

Now the Cherone Era, on the other hand...

I wouldn't say hate, but the first few years Dreams Come True weren't really my thing. Anything from the mid-90's onward is gold though.

I thought that Beck kinda crapped the bed from 2014-2017. Morning Phase is a boring play-by-play of Sea Change that people had to wait years for, and Colors is just not interesting to me. I was happy when Hyperspace came out and I enjoyed it.

Green Day, I didn't mind when they "Sold Out" in 94 (to me they were the same band, just with better production quality), but I haven't liked them since they "Sold Out" in 05.

Avenged Sevenfold, haven't been a huge fan of their work since The Rev died (Nightmare doesn't really count since he was mostly involved with the making of it).

Danzig had an Electronica period in the mid 90's till early 00's, but I have only heard bits of it. What I heard though I didn't like.

You could also lump in pretty much any classic rock band from the 60's and 70's who were still making music in the 80's (Pink Floyd, The Who, Rolling Stones, etc.), or most metal bands from the 80's who were still making music in the mid-late 90's. That will save me the trouble of listing them all here. Only real exception was Motorhead, they were awesome in the 90's.

Edit: Oh yea, and pretty much all "Punk Rock" bands just suck now. Except The Offspring, their latest album is awesome.

I loved ELO up through the album Time. I only liked about half the songs on Balance of Power, and only a couple songs from Secret Messages. ELO Part II was utter crap, though I did like most of The Orchestra's No Rewind. Jeff Lynne's ELO has been mostly crap as well. I wish the Tandy-Morgan Band had done more work, as I loved Earthrise. L.E.O.'s album Alpaca's Orgling was rather interesting.

Hate is a strong word. More disinterest. But both linkin lark and mariilyn manson I started to not care for their music the further they went. With linkin park it was cause their sound changed and became a little too political iirc. I dont mind some political references in music but I dont care for it being all political. Maybe im remebering wrong on them and it wad just the sound and not caring for the lyrics either

Manson i cant say its the sound. He always changed his sound on a regular basis. I think I just grew out of him. Im not the angsty goth kid I was back in the day.

I do like his Rihanna song monster and Godzilla with Juice Wrld. also like the one he did with Logic and they got the dude from the sandlot to play Logic

I still liked manson after golden age. But it was a decline starting right after that album. High end of the low is thr last album I bought and armagodamngeddon was probably his last great song.

I loved Godzilla w/ Juice Wrld too. I kinda feel the opposite re: the sobering up part, I feel like he started to get really sloppy being hardcore on the drugs for a while. Initially his sobriety probably did make him seem a little boring but I think hes back on the up and up.

Heres another good recent one-
https://youtu.be/xEd1WsRKikw

This was when him and Snoop -almost- came to a beef but it didnt come to fruition.

Killshot, his response to Machine Gun Kelly Rap Devil was real good too and pretty much ended MGKs rap career and he went full actor, lol
