Do not use popcorn button for popcorn!

This is the single most perplexing thing I've encountered in my adult life. I understand filing my taxes more than I understand why I can't use a popcorn button to make popcorn.

I hope youre okay with having about 30-40% of the kernels unpopped

or everything burnt to a crisp

those are the only two possible outcomes to using the popcorn button on popcorn

Isn't it usually a damp paper towel? It's to create a steaming effect.

there's a reason it says wrap food loosely in paper towel

it also prevents any food pops like from beans or sausage or whatever from splattering all over the microwave. it's why you cover your soup with a paper towel when nuking it

The top half can be loose, but will always fall to the side and the bottom half laying under the food will get stuck to the food lol

Thats pretty obvious about foods containing liquids even though paper towel usually falls into the liquid

Just like you still have to drive like usual while using cruise control, you still have to listen to the popcorn when you use the popcorn button and stop the microwave or add time.

Too many people thought they could just press the popcorn button and walk away until the timer goes off which finally led to popcorn makers telling you not to use the button after they got too many complaints about the bag is not entirely popped or the popcorn is burnt with the popcorn button being the most common factor.
