I really was looking forward to cyberpunk. I didn't expect it to be perfect and more action based and watered down, like most AAA games pandering to the bottom line, but waiting a year for it to be finished if they even fix it is a bit eh.... It's a shame there are only so many games like this too. I read the same lists on the internet too. It's rockstar and GTA and Red Dead if I want a game like this that's really good. Or CDPR and Witcher 3. Or Ubisoft which is now more third tier and I can't get myself to buy Watch Dogs legion. I bought Odyssey and won't even buy Valhala. I can't stand how ubisoft does their open worlds. They are all the same and so much crap just scattered around. I thought of going more off beat and trying Sinking City or the Yakuza games but I like driving around. There really is nothing else. Days Gone was alright. Fallout IV bethesda isn't the same.

The budgets of these games and the amount of money they make. They get millions of sales because they are the only games and they basically own the market at this point. There need to be other games being developed that can push boundaries, but that's what they have done is basically driven the cost up so it's all controlled by a handful of companies who rake in all the sales .

Is it just me or is GTA V and Red Dead overrated? I get it's polished and well made to pander to critics who complain about these things but as far as innovative gameplay I would say both games get incredibly boring after a while. Witcher 3 probably is the best game and by that I mean game. And it's really the only one I can think of as far as my tastes. Mario isn't really my thing.

What has happened to the rpg genre. I remember when Fable was still good and an immersive western style rpg with modern graphics. Now it's all top down isometric retro. Crosscode seems interesting but I'm not sure if i will enjoy the retro style graphics. There are games like Wasteland and all of that. But I need a game to feel modern. I could play Yakuza or the from software stuff. I've thought about trying sekiro which would be my choice there or judgement/yakuza 0.

I liked Persona 5 and Trails of Cold Steel I & II, but I'm not sure how into JRPG's you are. For me the recent WRPG's from the bigger devs like Bioware and Bethesda were terrible, so all that was left for me was smaller stuff like Outer Worlds(I didn't like this too much) or indies. I wanted to try Pillars of Eternity but I never got around to it.

I don't play jrpgs at all. Hitman is a good idea. Still leaning towars Watch Dogs legion and I'll probably regret it. The issue is it's always the same games I see listed. This generation has some good games but kind of stinks at the same time if you are like me. All the best genres have been gobbled up by crappy companies.

I basically have a handful of games to choose from. GTA V, Red Dead, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, AC Odyssey etc. And these genres are so watered down now where they don't really do much that sets them apart. I also already own them. It's all I play pretty much and Madden and NBA 2k, etc...

I could get the Mass effect collection but another $60 for a game i already bought last gen? I liked LA Noire so much and even that game wasn't perfect at all I bought it twice. Great concept. Could ahve been amazing if decisions really mattered and they made the open world more interactive where it just got increasingly crazy and violent.

No one has mentioned HZD or Ghost of Tsushima either. I'm guessing these games were not as great and more derivative than it seems. Yakuza 0/Judgement I have been on the fence on trying. Same with games like Sekiro.. I'd probably get that or Control.

What I don't like about these games is what I said. The genres that are out there really don't differentiate themselves much. I get Yakuza is smaller space, more going on take away driving but it's the same concept.

Loved Horizon, but it's not on that next level of great, It's very very good and I had a blast playing it, but it's just shy of a God of War or TLoU2. Same for Spider-Man. Still absolutely worth playing.
