I used to tip them decently but after awhile I came to think why should I? So for a while I stopped tipping altogether and recently "compromised" with myself on tipping $1. AS I understand it they make money per delivery so tips are not their sole income. Does anyone else tip or not tip them?

Base pay for a delivery is usually $2-3. Its almost never worth it to accept an order like that as a driver. I usually tip around ~$5 unless its a big order that justifies more. Thats what I look for as a driver, so I think it makes sense as a customer.

No tip, no trip.

You get to see how much the tip is ahead of time? I always thought they don't see until after delivery

the idea of tipping a delivery driver before they have completed the delivery makes absolutely no sense

The only problem with that is that drivers can (and will) ignore orders that pay too little. So there's a chance no one will want to take your order and you won't have a driver.

This is one major reason why I stopped. It felt forced.

You sort of have to guess. Once you get an idea of what the base pay is, you can do the math and get a pretty good idea. DD shows you the total pay for the whole trip and doesnt separate base pay from tip or promo pricing until after the delivery is complete.

I'll wait, and it justifies my $1 tip as well. Before all this drivers would get tipped cash at the door when they arrived not before.

I wished I could retroactively adjust my tip after the dumb bitch left the food at the wrong apartment. Illiterate dumb fuck.

the entire point of tipping is so the customer can pay for the level of service received. next i'll be hearing that when i dine in at a restaurant i need to tip before the server stops by to say "hello". tipping before the service is performed removes any incentive the tip had to bring good service.
