The lemon peels.

Put the peels in a bowl, pour sugar over them, stir, cover with plastic wrap and let sit for about 12 hours. It'll extract the oil from the peels.

Use this lemon oily sugar to sweeten the lemonade. Bring the water to a boil, remove from heat, pour the oily sugar and peel mixture into the hot water, let all the sugar dissolve, and then filter it through a sieve to get the peels out.

Let it cool completely to room temperature before adding the juice from the lemons, I think it turns out better that way. Then I would refrigerate before serving, even if you pour over ice I would still refrigerate it.

Gotta admit I'm not a huge fan of strawberry lemonade. Takes away from the tart lemon flavor and becomes a tad too sweet for me.
