I wouldn't worry about the demographic target, honestly. Without any more info it's really hard to say. I'm fairly confident that legitimately great stuff like Adventure Time and Gravity Falls would also get pitched for the same age bracket. The adult fanbases these shows pick up are never the target audience.

Almost every single good western animated series of the last decade and change have technically been targeted towards that demographic on paper, including right now. Honestly the only exception I can think if is Bojack. Oh and Castlevania I suppose.

So yeah wouldn't worry about that.

I'd mostly agree, except Invincible and Castlevania are both great.

Invincible is an exception for me because I have been on the Invincible train since long before that decade plus I mentioned, so it was old news to me. I haven't even watched the show yet!

Rick & Morty...I think is pretty funny. I don't know why the discussion around that show is so extreme and heated.

But it is certainly loved by a lot of people. Didn't hear a lot of buzz about yesterday's premier, though, oddly.

There's actually a lot of exceptions here but I don't think it's worth really diving into because we are in a pretty sweet era of animation where there is a wide range of quality

Probably a bit biased because the really terrible adult animation from the last decade that has been bad is just SO bad. But yeah probably a few good shows I've missed, while I pretty much always check out whatever is looking good outside of it.

Also I am not going to disparage Cyber Group Studios. I am not familiar with their work, those links Mac posted looked nice enough, and I generally have a lot of faith in French animation.

But BOY imagine if this was being made by Ankama.

I already know I love Invincible, but from what I've heard and seen the show isnt actually a real looker. Sounds like they adapted it real well, good VA work (JK Simmons is an incredible choice) and solid art direction from the clips clips I've seen, very faithful, but maybe a bit stiff and budget.

The fact that it's a direct 1 to 1 adaptation is a good thing, but it does mean I feel less of an urge to watch it. Doesn't mean I'm not excited that it exist or think less of it, it's just that I don't personally feel much of a need to watch it!

I'm a fan of the comic series and I think the animation series is basically Invincible+.

I'm sure I'll give it a watch one day, but it's just not high priority.

I know myself. If I watch it now all I'm gonna do is grab the next volume off my shelf once I finish the season, give a big chunk of it a reread, and the show itself will go in one ear and out the other.
