Partially. But I'd say they drop the most high quality games that age well. Compared to Sony and Microsoft.

Definitely wouldn't say all of their games are high quality ofc. But Nintendo seems to better IMO at making niche unique games/consoles and popular games that last the test of time.

I'd say somewhere in the ballpark of 60% nostalgic/ 40% they are going to drop a high quality game. Like I have no doubts BotW2 whenever it comes out will be great. Doesn't help that Nintendo knows people will put up with their antics, so God only knows when BotW2 will ever release.

It took how long for them to release more info, and frankly that additional info IMO opinion wasn't much....

I felt like the concept was different because one amiibo could be used on multiple games, but I quickly saw that Nintendo stopped doing that and essentially just made it game-specific DLC.

Now I only get amiibo that I really want for display purposes and just use a tag to unlock amiibo stuff in games.

I don't hate Nintendo because afterall they are a company and they are in the business to make money.
However, I hate their fanboys which think Nintendo can do nothing bad (even though they have done quite a few scummy moves).
Take for example, the price hike for games.
Supposedly it was done because next gen games and hd resolutions would mean more developing money.
So it was logical that Sony and MS would raise the praise of their games, but Nintendo too?
Even though their games were max 480p?

They're not technically DLC, just some things that offer small bonuses on several games, it's only recently that they started being used as physical DLC.

Either way I don't get how they became so popular.

People are way more willing to accept crap practices if they still provide a good experience.

Because Nintendo games very often provide a good and enjoyable game, people are much more likely to look past that the online sucks, the games never go on sale (or never a worthwhile sale), that all of the games worth playing on a Nintendo console tend to be Nintendo exclusive (otherwise play it on something else), etc...

And this applies to plenty of other companies too, for other reasons this can be applied to both Sony and Microsoft, companies like Apple, Amazon, etc...

If that goodwill ever goes away though, they're ****ed.

The well they make good games narrative is complete and utter bullshit.

Do they make good game? Of course. Occasionally.

Is that an excuse to be the laziest, most anti consumer company on the market? No.

Compared to the other two, Nintendo games and services are embarrassing. Their online system is an absolute joke. Their store and library is abysmal. Theyve already figured that shit out on the Wii.

Nintendo might be one of the worst managed companies in all of entertainment if you think of it.

What other company in 2021 is allergic to letting people buy their shit. What other company refuses to embrace the internet and meet people where they shop. Offer all their games in a huge library? Fuckin game over.

Microsoft has the best deal in gaming with Gamepass. Yet they dont have a fraction of the library Nintendo has. I could only imagine what competent management could do to bring Nintendo into the modern era.

Their inability to reduce console/game prices fuckin DECADES after release is unacceptable.

No other company would get away with any of this shit.

For example. The backlash Sony got when they planned to shut down the Vita and PS3 stores, gamers rose up (Im being ironic) and voiced legit concerns. Sony went back on that decision.

Meanwhile Nintendo closes the Wii store, was there backlash? Who knows. Probably minuscule by comparison, not like it ever matters cus when has Nintendo shown they give a flying fuck.

I mean, Nintendo shut down the Wii store in a way better way. They stopped letting you put money on it, like a year+ before the service shut down and gave everyone a ton of notice that it was getting shut down before they did so, and you can still re-download all your games. whereas Sony just said "PSN for PS3 and Vita going away in like 3 months" without explaining enough to see if people's digital purchases were going to still be available or not. Sony also didn't get nearly as much backlash when they shut down the PSP store

Its not just "they make good games" that is why people don't seem to care, its "they provide a good enough experience I'm willing to make some concessions" mostly because they tend to provide a good enough product and have standing goodwill with their customers.

It also probably helps that Nintendo is the only one in their current market of "video games, but like, the fun kind" while Xbox and Sony are fighting over things like graphics and intensity. Nintendo doesn't really have much competition in the way of "we included 2 controllers in our console so you can immediately play with your friends!"

The real question you should be asking is "why do people continue to pay these high prices for nintendo's games?" and I guess the answer is enough people like the games enough to still be willing to pay those prices

In the early days of the NES, third-party developers were limited to five games a year and disallowed from publishing games on rival consoles.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has the worse DLC to get all Mii costumes you need 20 amiibo ignoring tax let's just go with $15 each = $300

IMO Nintendo is the only company that does DLC/expansion passes correctly.

With literally every other company it's a smaller character roster, less tracks, DLC special character chapters etc
