Is it really worthless? I mean, what is its true purpose? To meet the letter of the law without having to actually secure your gun because why should you have to secure your gun? You live in America, dammit!

Seems like it's specifically for a specific rifle, as well.
What's even the point of this?

You could turn this into a game at the range

Who gets to play with the AR-15?

pass it around and take turns until someone gets it

To make money off people who want to do the bare minimum to comply with legal requirements.

This looks like it's to stop someone who just grabbed the gun from firing, and to stop accidental discharges, without making the weapon useless to someone who finds themselves in a dangerous situation.

I doubt it's intended to be a substitute for a gun safe.

i wonder if that could even be considered a legal "lock" when it can be opened so easily and within a few seconds. it barely locks <_<

You can always trust America to have the lowest possible standards when it comes to guns, dude. Heck, a post-it note saying "please don't fire me" would probably meet the bar in some states.

There's some deterrence value where just having the lock dissuades people from trying to break in, but this really doesn't even have that, what with the bright color and huge buttons to press

No, can't say I did. It's a fairly stock punchline, though.

idk...if a kid is playing with the gun, I could easily see them accidentally solving it. Kids like pushing buttons
