Right now I'm reading a book by Ian Fleming. It's about a dashing hero who was a Royal Navy commander and who uses his wits & fabulous gadgets such as a flying car to defeat the bad guys. This book spawned a popular movie and a whole series of novels.

That's right, it's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Magical Car. Yes, it was written by the same guy who created James Bond. Though the book is absolutely nothing like the Disney movie and it's a bit more like Bond for elementary students.

Before that I read Berlin Diary: The Journal of a Foreign Correspondent 1934-1941, by William L. Shirer, The Grass Is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank, by Erma Bombeck, Beren and Lthien, by J.R.R. Tolkien, Minor Mage, by T. Kingfisher, and Hitler's Jet Plane: The Me-262 Story, by Mano Ziegler.

I just finished the Neuromancer trilogy (Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive). (First was good, second was ok, third was pretty great, although none of them are as good as something like LotR or Dune or Dostoevsky.)

I'm just now starting the "Bridge" trilogy (next set of books by same author William Gibson)

Just finished reading a book about Francis Drake and his circumnavigation and role in repelling the Spanish Armada. Haven't figured out what I'm going to read next yet.

I'm reading The Food Lab by J. Kenji Lopez-Alt right now.

You know what, I'm not actually reading anything, but I was being a bit of a book nerd awhile back, so I will just give you the title of that book, because it's such a foreign concept to me that I actually kind of enjoyed it

"Stepping Heavenward: One Woman's Journey to Godliness" "Mrs. E. Prentiss"

Obviously, it is one of my mom's books - yet it takes place in a setting of nearly 200 years ago so it was kind of interesting to imagine the themes in my mind

I wanted to finish it but I must have sobered up or something

Been reading the Ranger's Apprentice books. Ok - nothing special, but not terrible.

I bought yet another cookbook today. I already have nearly an entire bookcase full of cookbooks. Nearly. So I can still buy more since there's room.

The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook.

It has a recipe for the non-alcoholic mint juleps they sell in New Orleans Square. And Dole Whip from the Tiki Room. And blue milk from Galaxy's Edge.

I need to buy some mint extract.
