My relatives went through the Red Summer.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Summer

Like Fredrick Douglass, Ida B. Wells, Harriet Tubman and Malcolm X.

My family has many stories of when the sheriff wouldn't have/didn't come (probably in the group) shotguns got them through the night.

YES

Id rather give someone my shit, cause I can get over that way easier than I can get over killing someone. Plus, who's to say I don't end up in a situation where they get my gun and now I'm dead in a situation where I could of just lost a few things. I don't really see myself getting into any situation where I need one otherwise, cause I'm not the kind of prideful that gets people killed.

A guy pries your window open with a crowbar and enters your home. What are you going to do now?

Id be sitting in the dark with a cup a tea. Id hit the light switch and tell him to take a seat. I would then dive into the psychology behind what led him to my house.

So you're OK with severely injuring, maiming, or killing people as long as a gun isn't used?

There are multiple weapons that exist other than guns that could deal with this situation so you're not really selling anyone on second amendment defense with that example

weapons tend to come down to the actual individual and their surroundings. most likely melee or short range focused. bats, knives, maybe pepper spray ect. those types of things can work, but they can also carry with them more issues in needing to be close to a target or in the case of something like mace or pepper spray in closed i areas can end up hurting you as well or even have those items taken from you easier than a gun.

you also might be able to handle that, but others might not be able to. can a 90lbs woman swing a bat around properly to detter a 200lb man? what if theres more than one individual? (iv heard something like 30% of home invasions have more than one intruder). What if someone is more elderly, has arthritis, is handicapped or injured in some way?

and while problems can still arise regardless when you get down to it there is nothing else, but a gun that eliminates as many unknown factors within the moment as possible.

What specific weapon are you going to use when a masked man breaks into your house and your family's safety is on the line? Because for some reason, you dislike the obvious, logical choice: A firearm.

You'll put a hole in something with that.

Make sure you get proper training on it. That's a right powerful pistol there

Thankfully no. But as a young kid, my uncle/aunt had their apartment attempted to be broken into it and my cousin had someone attempt to break in his house. Those events kind of stuck with me, I guess.

Like no joke, I would be like 9 years old, sneaking down the stairs with a hammer if I heard a noise that sounded suspicious. I'd go and make sure all of the doors were locked and checked the windows.

Good precautions. Some people might call you paranoid, but having security awareness can make all the difference when it comes to your own health or even life. While it's one thing to be prepared for repressivr measures, I often get the feeling most people aren't really too concerned about preventive measures, while logically it's best if someone wouldn't try to break in at all, due to various preventive security measures (like the ones you have).

I cant tell if youre joking or serious. Hopefully joking, because no way someone can seriously think those are the only two groups with guns.
