I don't make these sorts of thread but I'd figure this one is worth sharing. A little background, I've heard of Nick Lopez shortly after my interest in clothes went from vintage collecting to custom clothing. Nick Lopez is a master tailor here in Houston whose clientele include famous people and politicians in Texas. We're both from the same Mexican state of Coahuila and he learned his trade from his father who made clothing for miners, back than there weren't much department stores so it was a well-practiced craft which he used to work his way up here in the states. He's a fun guy to talk to, this is one of the very rare instances where I can talk to someone else about vintage clothing such as the drape cut and just how bulletproof old fabric is lmao. I'm sad that I forgot to take a pic of the shop and fitting but it's nice with a pretty wide selection of fabrics from top fabric manufactures, the type of fabric can really drive up the price on clothing. I settled with what I assume is hopsack, or as the in-voice called it "blue mesh". Pretty breathable material in this hot and humid weather on top of it being durable. I let the sales rep do the picking of the lining and some beautiful holland & sherry buttons. A month and a half later and one fitting and I got the jacket. Didn't seem to take more than one since he based off the pattern of a custom jacket made by another tailor who I have been going to for 5 years.

For comparison the insides of a jacket from Mr. Flores:

Here's some fit pics, not the best angle to take them and I'm also wearing shorts just to warn you. Oh and I also had a bigish meal so things may be slightly tighter.

In comparison here's the latest jacket done by my tailor, this one I took as an example for Nick. This tailor also comes from Mexico and was under the apprenticeship of his older brother. He's not as successful as Nick, he lacks the fabric selection, he does everything by himself such as drafting a pattern, cutting, sewing, etc except when his wife helps him somedays versus Nick who has a full team with him. He's a very good man and a good friend of mine, I have many jackets from him and I think he does very good work. Oh and this jacket needs a bit of pressing now looking at it.

They're both fairly clean in the front and the back, the collar sits nicely with the shirt's collar. Nick's jacket is a little shorter and the button stance is a bit a lower. The major difference is the armholes:

Nick's jacket was cut with a wider and lower hanging armhole. Mr. Flores cut the armhole very close to mine allowing the jacket to have full motion and as you can see lifting up my arms doesn't drag the whole jacket up. It's a pretty insignificant thing, no one really needs high armholes, and most are cut low and wide for comfort, but next time if I go back to Nick I'll ask for a higher armhole.

Hey man that's awesome. I love wearing jackets, and to get the custom made has always been a dream of mine. I have a bit of a hunchback, so finding regular old ones that fit right is a chore.

The fit could be better around the arms and maybe the waist. Not sure how big you are. Syle doesn't suit the jack perfectly either

I know what you mean. I have pretty square shoulders so most OTR doesn't fit me since the majority of them are cut for people with normal shoulders. Every off the racket jacket I have has to have the collar removed and the excess fabric removed and it's an alteration your average alteration person doesn't usually do.

I'm around 180 while being on the short side. It sucks because some of the earlier jackets don't fit anymore since I was around 150-160 at the start.
