I hate the idea of getting disciplined for the way I communicate on this site by people who have less life expereince than I do and leave the house rarely.
They do the moderation for FREE. The currency they get paid in is authority, which is pathetic.

It's impossible to respect people like that unless you are one yourself.

Well, authority should be meaningful and geared towards empowering the community.
Mods do it for the kicks they get outta FINALLY having some sorta sway over someone.
I ran a government IT department and had people applying using "Reddit Moderator" and shit as their skills/background.

Would never hire one. Good people that work alongside others don't go towards forum authority as a form of self-fulfillment. Just many warning lights when it comes to these kinda people and I don't have to pretend they are quality humans.

No. It was in a BLM thread where we were specifically talking about increasing diversity on the mod staff. I couldnt believe he stuck his foot in his mouth like that, which is why I screen capped it.

He's not implying that at all and you know that. He's simply saying he wants people who can do the job the best regardless of what race they are. Their race doesn't matter, just their skillset. There is no negative slant to this context unless you are deliberately trying to create one in bad faith. The fact that you screenshotted and kept something from last year pretty much implies your intent.

Keep in mind this also occurred in a thread where the mods were getting called out for deleting a thread asking why GameFAQs hadnt made a BLM statement. If anything, the context makes it worse than the screencap alone.

Even lacking context, it's damn obvious what he meant. And common sense dictates a mod isn't just going to flat come out and legit say they don't think minorities are competent, even if they feel that way, come on

Companies were all making statements in support of BLM and pledging to broaden diversity in the workplace. The GameSpot staff made like two separate statements and a video. Well people start wondering, hey, wheres GameFAQs statement? Why hasnt Allen posted anything? (weeks later he said corporate forgot to push a statement to him, but thats a subject for another thread.) So people kept asking, wheres gamefaqs statement? Dead silence from Allen. Eventually some mod gets tired of the site getting called out over this and deletes the thread. CE loses their shit. Probably the worst mod decision that whole summer. Well, eventually the conversation turns to how do the mods plan on making things more inclusive? Thats when the idea of supporting diversity in mod-hires comes up. Well thats when Alucard decides to post that little chestnut insisting that the mod skill level was too high to effectively work in diversity considerations, which talk about the wrong place at the wrong time. Yeesh.
