1 - What's some of the better DLC on Steam? A lot of them have low reviews, but I think that has to do with better content being available off of Steam.

2 - Once I do buy one or two of them from Steam, do I have to do anything special to use them?

3 - This is just a bonus question for latter - What's a good battle mechanic to use? The formula?

The dlc is all just art assets. Don't do anything stupid like "buy all the DLC" that's roughly equivalent to buying everything off the Unity Asset Store.

DLC are assets you'd use in your game, so what you need depends on your project. It's the same with the battle system. You're asking the wrong kind of questions tbh, too vague. It would help to be more specific. "Where can I find graphics for a modern city?" or "How do I make a turn-based battle system like Final Fantasy 8?" Questions like that. If that's difficult then it'd help to think about your project more and your vision for it.

I remember using RPG Maker 2000 back in....well 2000. I made a project for school in the form of my own video game and presented it to my 10th grade Literature class.

i don't know how the new one works, but the old one allowed you to download assets (for free) off the internet to use for your own projects outside of making your own assets. Can you not do this with this steam version?

You just have to make sure the files are in the correct location in your computer. I dont think its like a normal video game dlc where everything is neatly contained inside the game itself. You have to kinda know file management to get things in the correct place I believe.

That said, it means you can literally use any graphic asset you want. You could draw stick men figures, get them imported in the right place, and use them in your game.

I remember making some NPC Sprites, but it got confusing because you have to save them on piece of paper or something. Like

• Open up paint
• Save Face Sprite 1 in Upper Left Corner
• Save Face Sprite 2 in Middle Left
• Save Face Sprite 3 in Lower Left
• Save Face Sprite 4 in Upper Middle

But you could easily save over one of them. I think each "paper" had 9 Locations

And then there was something strange about saving it, too.

Not that has anything to do with DLC, but if I'm going to get the Free ones, then I need to figure out where to put them.

Make a copy of one of the built in assets and then paste over it. It's the easiest way.

Oh, that's right. No thanks, it shuffles my Desktop Icons around as well and pisses me off, lol

You can't just save it, you have to Export first and then Import or something. Really strange. They talk so quickly in the video as well, but I think that's just me.
