This is why you can't discuss politics with persons of lesser intelligence. The purpose of the comparison was to show that any group of people can be marginalized. You could have picked Jews, Blacks, or really anything. It doesn't matter what group you used.

Either through inability to engage on an abstract level (Focusing on the idea behind the comparison, not the comparison itself), you attack the concrete to nullify the argument on a surface level. One individual tried to assert that cops can't be stigmatized because cops choose to be cops, vs other stigmatized groups. The problem with this argument is not only can Jews choose to not practice Judaism (so the concrete comparison fails) but the argument itself doesn't hold weight. Just because someone chooses to be a part of a group doesn't mean that they cannot be stigmatized.

A better argument would not focus on whether cops are stigmatized against, but rather whether stigmatism or criticism is deserved. I think many could agree it is justifiable to stigmatize and prosecute actual Nazis, for example. There are obvious reasons why this argument doesnt work: not all cops are bad, so stigmatizing all cops ("Are all cops bastards?") is unethical. I'm not going to basic conversation by myself though, anymore.

Jews aren't just a religion. They are a ethnicity as well. So no, a Jew can't choose to not be Jewish. I used to know a girl who considered herself half Jewish but her practicing religion was Buddhist. Her dad was Jewish her mom was Chinese. She accepted her Jewish ethnicity but rejected her Jewish faith. She was still Jewish

I already stated why pointing the issues with the comparison does not invalidate the argument (You can still be stigmatized for being a part of something you can leave). But yes, I would agree that being Jewish is an ethnicity and culture, and not just a religion.
