Ive played Metroid NES, Super Metroid, and Metroid Prime. I sorta wanted to play Samus Returns and Fusion as well in preparation of Dread coming out, so I started Samus Returns 3DS.

Any thoughts on the game? Im still fairly early in it, but Im conflicted. Im really not a fan of how it controls, and the art style irks me a bit. But I feel like I really need to give it fair shot.

Solid game but the melee mechanic makes it a bit easy. There are a few challenging bosses but also easy once you figure out what to do.

I loved it. Metroid II was my first Metroid game. I feel like it's a faithful enough remake. It's terribly linear though, so that hurts its replayability.

I downloaded the Gameboy version of Metroid II on 3DS a while ago. Killed a good number of Metroids, but I did nothing as far as drawing my own maps to keep track of where I was. Completety lost track of where I was and where Id been.

The atmosphere was nerfed big time. Which is important to me in a Metroid game.

You don't have to do that for the entire game. You get the Ice Beam fairly early and from there you can freeze an enemy and kill it instantly with a Missile. You do that until you get more powerful weaponry and boom.
