The original Final Fantasy title on iOS seems like a decent enough time killer, but you shouldnt buy it. Heres why:

The difficulty for the first 95% of the game is very easy. You expect hours of grinding and tough boss fights, but not in this version. The first 95% of the game is actually very fun and forgiving. It seems like a good way to ease modern players into playing classic RPGs, but not the end of it.

The final dungeon seems to have been replaced. From what I gather, the original dungeon was basically you fighting your way through and challenging the four main bosses again before fighting the final boss. Seems pretty straightforward and fun. When I got to the final dungeon, I quickly realized that all of the guides did not include the iOS versions final dungeon (probably because they couldnt beat it).

Instead of boss fights and treasure, you get randomized puzzles with time limits. These arent the typical push the blocks on the correct tile puzzles that you can easily figure out with the help of a guide. To increase your time limit, you have to sacrifice very important abilities (like using items or magic), and the text explaining what to do is glitched so that its too big for the screen and you cant read it. Not to mention no one bothered to make a guide discussing it.

Puzzles can be great when theyre done right, but this is flat out frustrating and I think thats what the developers were going for. Its like watching a good movie with an ending so bad that it ruins the entire experience. If youre ever thinking about playing this game again, dont get the iOS version.

The game is fun but the fun am dungeon is randomized, frustrating puzzles and theres no guide for it.

Most of those sound like valid complaints, but no one having written a guide is not a valid complaint.
