Life is logically pointless and random. But if it's everything is all meaningless in the end, then why not believe in something to give you meaning? If there's nothing, then you believe in something. And I do hope there's truly something.

Props to people like you that can at least admit it. If believing in something makes them a better person, I'm all for it.

God is real insofar as the concept exists and is believed by billions; God is phenomenologically "real."

As an actual objective deity? The jury is out, but I doubt it.

I was once so bored, so bored in class in third grade, that it cleared most top layer Ongoing Things in my mind, and I just admitted to myself I only believed in a god because I was afraid of death, not because it made any sense. I couldn't keep on believing after I admitted it to myself, and I've been atheist ever since.

God isn't human. It doesn't care about you and It doesn't know you. As well it won't save you.

Does God exists? maybe, maybe not. I mean it created what we see above the clouds or was it something else?.

It's fun being agnostic, over an atheist and most definitely over believers. Question them hard to the point of making them think hard.

Is life here arbitrary? On earth I mean. Was it by chance?

Then it could have emerged by chance shortly after the universe formed. And made it beyond the great filters. And consequently it would be some 13 or 14 billion years old, or even older if this universe is one of many (infinite?) universes.

Consider the Kardashev scale:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kardashev_scale

Humans are about to hit level 1 on that scale, within our lifetime I think. And that's with barely any time spent trying to move up the scale.

Imagine beings billions of years old, that have been doing this for billions of years. They'd be gods.

I believe God as a person is definitely real, and is just the first being(s) that got to the type of the scale. There's no real difference between aliens at that level and what Christians, Muslims, Hindus, etc, would consider to be God.

It's just a matter of considering the probability of us being here by chance. I think in either case, it being chance or us being engineered, the path one can take to "there is a God" is pretty straightforward and clear and doesn't collide with any known science or with logic.

The more I read about the universe and quantum mechanics, and the more I live and experience, the more I realize that there may or may not be a God (Sounds weird I know). If there is, it's definitely not what we think it is. God could very well just be us. We willed ourselves into existence. How? I don't know.

I've had way too many statistical impossibilities occur in my life to not believe. Like, we're talking the equivalent of winning the mega millions lottery many times in a row.

Obviously that could happen, but let's be real; it's close enough to call it impossible at those odds.

One in particular, one where I was climbing this mountain during the winter - it was the most empty I've ever been in my life and I had no understanding of what I was really looking at. I didn't know how I got to the top, in fact I hardly remember that morning with my friends or the grueling climb.

It felt like I had just 'appeared' and what I witnessed.. more so what I felt, I just felt the 'unnatural' sensations of thinking about how I was treating myself at the time, how the things I was confused about melted away, how assured I was of the fact that I was supposed to be there that day. This rumbling wave of anxiety had come over me and into my stomach and I felt like I could exhale the longest exhale known to man.

Tears welled up in my eyes while everything just emptied out of me -- my strength, myself, everything I had ever known

..there was this other time too, but I was much closer to home, I witnessed what was water falling over the edge of the Earth because of this golden fog from a sunset after heavy rain and fog ingested my entire city

the fog just melted down like snow over this ocean and it looked like the water perfectly blended into the fog in such a way that it made two mirrors with a fiery, golden crease in the middle

I don't know how to make much sense of the shit in my life, nor do I care to - people have explanations for one and everything but at the time those words would've been absolutely useless and rendered useless by the things I was feeling

Philosophy, logic, time - it was all destroyed in a matter of seconds

...who knows with these kinds of things >_>

I was introduced to the concept of god by a childhood friend who characterized god as the creator of everything. I remember my response was to ask if god has a wife.

I held on to some form of theistic belief, from Christianity to deism, to panendeism and others, until somewhere during early college I decided that there's no good reason to believe in god. I think it's unlikely that god exists, and consider myself an atheist. In the event that I'm wrong and god does exist, there's no reason to think any religion past or present has any insight into it, nor is there any reason why there should be an afterlife.

The belief in God actually gives me answers for why we are here that nothing else can really fill. The belief that the universe came to be because a cosmic deity wanted there to be life, is a lot more satisfying answer, than the atheist belief the universe came to be out of an event no one witnessed and just happened, just because.

If one can accept the idea that something (God) had no cause, one can accept the idea that something else (the universe) had no cause. You just have a hard time doing that because a deity with intentions is more comforting than a cold universe. It's not more sensible. It's just easier.
