The Trent 07/14/21 2:59:35 PM #1:	These events happened Wednesday of last week... I scheduled a ride for 4:35 AM because I had a flight to catch for work. To his credit, my driver (Cornelius), arrived 5m early and was waiting for me. When I got in the car, I noticed there was no air conditioner running and the car smelled very musty. My driver knew this was a ride to the airport for a work flight, but was driving painfully slow (at least 2 mph below speed limit at all times) and avoiding any toll roads that would help out our time. I had already planned the timing of this trip because I didn't want to wake up any earlier than needed but also knew how much time I required to get to the airport and through security to my terminal. As we are driving, I noticed my driver's waze app's ETA growing from 44 minutes to 45 minutes to 46 minutes because we weren't keeping pace with the calculated time. I began getting nervous that I was going to miss my flight, but trusted that I'd still be there on time but would probably have to run through the airport. As we got onto one of the major highways in Houston, it began raining. Rain was already in the forecast and we have been receiving rain in the Houston area for about a week already. It wasn't a surprise storm. It wasn't a torrential downpour, but it was raining steadily. When the rain started, my driver slowed dramatically to 30 mph in a 65 mph zone on the highway. Cars were passing us, two of which honked as they went by. No one else was driving under 50. It was NOT raining that hard. My driver commented to me that he needed to be careful because driving in the rain made him nervous and he was scared of hitting a puddle that he couldn't see? He seemed to think there could be some kind of "black ice" situation like in freezing conditions. Now I began feeling a bit uncomfortable with timing and thinking that if we slow the pace even more, I won't make my flight. We drove another few minutes at this pace before he decided that it was raining too hard and that he would need to stop and wait for the rain to finish. I couldn't do this, as I was already on a tight time frame. When I laughed at this idea and said that may not work for me, my driver got very upset and offended. He began telling me that his life matters and that his life was worth more than us getting there on time. I was confused with the angle we were taking and told him I did not consider it an either/or situation and that I was pretty sure we can get there on time AND not have our lives endangered. Remember, everyone else is still driving on the road like normal. He did not like this comment and got a bit more heated, thinking that I was not valuing his life somehow. I simply wanted to get to where I needed to go in time. When I said "I hear what you're saying, but I really need to get to the airport" he replied that "Yeah you hear me but you aren't listening so I'm just going to let you off right here." Right here happened to be a random gas station off of the highway, in the middle of the rain in a bad part of town at 5 AM. I was confused at this point by what was happening because I'd never had a bad experience with an uber driver previously. I have a 5* uber rating as a passenger. He got off of the highway and was still telling me that I was not valuing his life but he would continue driving me as long as he could stay on the feeder. I had no belief that doing this would get us to the airport in time, so I told him nevermind and that he could just let me out where he had planned. He did so, I got out in the rain and told him that I hoped he had a good day and went into the gas station to dial up a second uber. My second driver was great, had no issues driving in the rain and got me to the airport JUST in time. That goes beyond not being professional, thats outright dangerous. A cop will literally pull you over and write you a ticket for driving that far under the limit.
