For a non-jury merge-boot that advantage-fucked herself, I'm surprised Sydney was such a big character. That being said, I can't really explain why, but all day long I had this sinking feeling that she was going home night.

Yeah fuck this season, man...Sydney was so far in the lead as my fav I don't even know who my #2 is. I guess we'll find out next week! Need to keep watching this trainwreck through to the end.

Also getting flashbacks to Nicaragua and how bad the post-merge was, hrm.

I didn't even watch tonight and I have this season ranked in 41st place (of US seasons). Quick synopsis is "A stellar cast consistently usurped by production interference and wholly unfair game mechanics which undermine the core of Survivor gameplay."

Naseer's idol probably saved him. Which ended up saving us from watching the "POC" alliance target both non-black POC who weren't immune. That honestly would've been really dumb to watch.

The idol fakeout by Xander was really good, and then it got ruined by 5 minus of "live tribal" garbage. This season is really frustrating because there are some really great things about it, but it's weighed down by some much garbage.

Also Sydney not being on the jury is a crime. We are getting robbed.

Honestly? I hate live tribals, but if there was ever a reason to have one, this was it. I'm fine with this instance of a live tribal.

Also, on the subject of season rankings...while this season is overproduced to shit, and that sucks, I still prefer it to a good number of seasons in the show's history. That can change, sure, but it's largely interesting for the time being.

I know it's an overreaction, but it is the season that made me question my fandom the most, and I stopped watching and didn't feel much pain at all. That may be why I put it last.

I may bump it above my bottom-tier of Thailand, EOE, Ghost, and South Pacific. Could even be above the next group of Caramoan, IOI, One World, and Nicaragua too. But... this season feels so inorganic and contrived. They're putting the good cast to waste by synthesizing "BIG MOVEZ" for the sake of them, and it feels disingenuous and redundant. When there are "BIG MOVEZ" every episode, they become routine and dull - if everything's one of them "BIG MOVEZ" then none of them are.

Dear God Sydney is amazing. Probably a long-shot but I really hope she comes back someday. If she had made jury even with the same placement I think I'd rate her chances higher, but they definitely consider pre-jurors far less frequently. Though I suppose if they ever did another Second Chance ballot she'd be a solid option.

If you're referring to people online, I have an answer for that now. I've known for a while now that someone (without knowing a name) spoiled on social media that they were a pre-jury boot. Once JD was booted I assumed it was him via an innocent fuck-up a la Chris U, as it just seemed like something he'd accidentally do. But apparently it was Sydney (with a similar fuck-up, but people still get mad at contestants for spoiling shit regardless).

i think this season has made a lot of mistakes (and dear god too many advantages) but has still been very good in spite of itself. obviously a lot of that is that the cast is very very good and has delivered pretty much nonstop

The spoiler I'm hearing now is about a new "twist" that further undermines the game of "Survivor" - and trust me, this is REALLY BAD. The person who finishes last in a challenge flips a coin. This decides whether they stay in the game or get eliminated... simply because it was a challenge they couldn't win. This goes against the fundamental basis of Survivor, which is supposed to be about using your social clout to survive votes. And one can guess that this plays out with poor Heather finishing last and getting the boot because of the coin - this is why she's been so Purple but still got that "inspirational" moment at that one challenge. It all makes sense.

They haven't used the true "vote music" since season 25. Perhaps they just wanted a "fresh" feel or something since they felt the original music had been done to death. And then Ross Landau left after S26 so that had something to do with it too.

Also, jsyk, the game isn't called "Survivor" anymore - it's called "Monster."

I do fully agree with your other post in that the Live Tribal killed the momentum of the vote and it should've been a public discussion.

I think it's the former. She really seemed to me like someone who genuinely thinks she is the best thing that's ever walked the earth. Tyson is WAY more self-aware. Like a half-comedic, half-coping mechanism, with maybe a little bit of genuineness sprinkled in. Sydney's seems 100% genuine.

I appreciate the interpersonal conflicts of the episode, but I'm still sad to lose another favorite. The season started so strong with two great boots, and Sara was a big "who cares". But since the merge/not-merge, we've lost two of my season faves.

I'm glad I stopped watching, since Sydney and Tiffany were among my favorites, and this boot was a SHOCKER. The spoilers apparently said Tiffany was winning it all - I gotta wonder if that was a fake spoiler spread around to obfuscate the truth. CBS would rather false spoilers circulate as opposed to real ones, after all, and I think they edited Tiffany to play into those.
