This is the very beginning. People are sick of not making a living by going to work and I applaud them for quitting.

The ONLY way that we can force our voices to be heard is to take your products off the shelf or shut them down (fast food). Minimum wage would be at $32/hr if wages rose with inflation, but these people are worked so hard that they cant even sleep or spend time with their families. On top of that, they meager wage doesnt even cover rent.

Youre going to continue to see your favorite snacks disappear and have twenty minute wait times at fast food drive throughs until we start paying people a fair wage. The ball is in our court and the elites will eventually have no choice to cave.

The companys solution is a whopping 4% increase in pay over the next two years.

Those really are some f***ed up work conditions. Can't imagine working that many hours when I complain about 40 hours a week.

Youll understand when you grow up and move out. When your job doesnt cover the lower end cost of rent in your city, its time for BIG changes.

Either pay up, lower the cost of living, or dont expect to see your favorite snacks on the shelves.

Yeah who cares about American citizens? They should be grateful they aren't working for $1/hr in a radioactive waste pit. Frito-Lay worked really hard to put themselves in a position to take advantage of their workers while raking in bkllions of dollars. They earned that themselves and its selfish that the people that make their products demand a piece of the pie and better working conditions. What have they done for Frito-Lay?

lol i went from "needing to get a real job" to the bourgeoisie in the span of 3 posts. what is it comrade. also, most business owners know labor reform is coming, and are ready to profit from it

People arent taking these shitty jobs because they like eating chips and hamburgers. They apply everywhere within a two hour radius of home and its the only place who calls them back. There. Are. Not. Enough. High paying. Jobs. To. Go. Around. How hard is it for some people to get this??

The bloodthirsty landlord doesnt give a shit if you like your job or not. At the end of the month youd better have your rent. Its a choice between living in a tent at the park or having a home.

Conservatives: "Don't like your job? Leave or get a better one."

Also conservatives: "Spoiled assholes think they are too good for hard work? Someone needs to step in and force these people into these jobs. Maybe the corporations should just stick it to these entitled jerks and pull out of America."

Either way, rent should never be more than 30% of minimum wage pay.

Rent is about 130% of minimum wage pay where I live. Before bills, before renters insurance, before medical and auto insurance, phone, etc.

Even if everyone worked X hard and had Y diplomas and certificates, you'd just have millions of overqualified workers in low-skill jobs. I've tried to ask countless times what the solution would be in that situation and all I ever get is "But people will always be lazy" or "Sucks to be them".

They don't actually give a fuck how hard people work. They just want them to shut up and accept their lot in life, so they don't need to read about it in the news or pay 35 more cents for cheeseburgers and cookies.

I'm sure the millions of people scrambling to pay their rent are really heartbroken that Frito-Lay and Burger King's profit margins dipped. Those employers created these jobs no one can afford to live on.

Exactly. Theyre so hyper aggressive about the fact that they actually want some people struggling. Chances are, the minimum wage workers work harder than most other people, but hey! Just work harder!

Exactly. Im so tired of these mega corporations pretending that theyre operating on shoestring profit margins. It comes down to CEOs taking massive pay cuts and taking care of the little guy.

Utz, Golden Flake, and Zapps are three of my favorites, but I havent had chips in a long time.

To give some reference points because this topic has been on CE before and people are arguing about minimum wage.
-Average pay is over $20/hr before overtime
-This is a union establishment which offers full benefits

My personal opinion is, if your union is an ineffective piece of shit that allows this then they're outright stealing money from you. Like fuck frito-lay and everything but at least they're not pretending to be the good guys here.
