https://nypost.com/2021/07/17/bill-burr-savages-cnn-as-un-american-pieces-of-st-who-want-trump-for-ratings/

Bill Burr savaged CNN anchors this week as moronic, America-hating blowhards who secretly covet a second Trump presidency because hes good for ratings. I swear to God, I cannot believe people watch that channel. Theyre so dumb, blared the bombastic comedian and The Mandalorian star in a blistering, foul-mouthed rant on his podcast this week. Theyre fucking treasonous un-American pieces of shit, Burr, 53, said of the news network. Burrs outburst aired on the Thursday edition of his Bills Monday Morning Podcast. He launched into his anti-CNN tirade around the 15-minute mark. The comedian said hes triggered by his mother-in-law who comes over to babysit his children. She always puts on CNN. And do you know what those fucking morons are doing? Do you know what those fucking morons are doing?! Theyre fucking talking about Trump, Burr seethed with increasing exasperation. He indicated that the network is obsessed with the former president because hes good for business while bore President Biden is a ratings disaster.

Its like, do you think these people give a fuck whos president? They want Darth Vader to come back. They want him to come back. Because they had nothing to talk about, because its show business, and Joe Biden is a fucking bore. They cant bitch about [Biden] because hes wearing a blue tie a Democrat, in other words. So now what do they do? Theyre going out there, theyre doing what they did the first time to get this guy [Trump] elected, by giving him all this free coverage, while they act like they allegedly dont like him. I dont buy it. I dont buy it. They are a corporate news channel. CNN has hemorrhaged viewers since Trump left office, with second-quarter primetime viewership down 68 percent year to year the most of any cable news network according to Nielsen data. The Washington Times reported earlier this year that CNN lost 45 percent of its prime-time audience in the five weeks after Trump left office.

I can see what he's saying but at the same time it's too simplistic to say "just stop talking about trump"

Trump is out of office but that doesn't mean he's irrelevant in US politics. He's far from irrelevant and therefore news pundits can't just stop talking about him altogether.

If people stop talking about him he'll become very irrelevant. Trump thrives on media attention and headlines, deny him that and he's just a blowhard screaming into the void.

I agree with you but we are currently dealing with a Trumpian republican party now so to some degree they have to keep covering it. He's out of office but the republican party is STILL the party of trump. They are STILL denying the results of the election and are STILL trying to overturn it. they won't let it go and they're dangerous. we all want to move on but we have to keep our eyes on them.

He's a hypocrite. I know from my parents watching fox news that the other side never shuts up about Biden

Anyway, even if we stopped talking about Trump, Republicans won't. And they still consider him the head of their party. He is still a relevant figure in the world. And we need to be paying attention to his schemes. I dont want him to suddenly take everyone by surprise and become president again

How is he a hypocrite? You act like he has never criticized Fox News. Also, Biden is relevant, he is the president. CNN is the one propping up Trump who should be fading into irrelevancy.

I mostly agree with Burr here, and I usually roll my eyes at his takes. There are certain things that should be covered now with respect to Trump like his legal case in New York or his former attorneys getting slapped around by judges. They do not need to get outraged at every stupid thing he says or does on a normal basis.

With the continual free coverage CNN and other news companies, it could definitely be Trump. We know Trump's shtick. We know his views. We know his tactics. Getting outraged over something stupid he says at a rally only gives him that free press he solely needs and wants. The idea is not to feed the narcissist...

The GOP has spread Trump's election conspiracy. When one of their members spoke out against these conspiracies, they removed her from power. They're now funding further sham audits of the 2020 election. They refused to investigate a terrorist attack and attempt to against the seat of the United States government to protect Trump. I mean he's not wrong (for once). If you ever flip on CNN you'll be greeted with a panel of "experts" on some issue or other. One of them will be a Trump apologist, and the others will be CNN talking heads. They literally just yell at eachother for 10 minutes and then go to commercial break. That's it. That's the height of political discourse in this country.

To pretend it's only CNN though is being willfully ignorant for the purpose of having an edgy take. ie Bill Burr's bread and butter. FOX invented it, MSNBC adopted it from the other side of the isle, and CNN gets them together for an "expert panel" and tapes them yelling at each other.

Election lies are perfectly reasonable things to cover - did I say they weren't? Again I will reiterate that there are most certainly news stories that deserve to be told about Trump, but covering everything he does is purely used to drive up ratings and fuel the outrage.
