Honestly, RDJ wasn't actually a great representation of Stark as he was in the comics, but i(and apparently others) like his take on it much more than the more serious version the comics used to have.

Benedict Cumberbatch was probably the most unanimously agreed upon fan casting of a character before Doctor Strange was even in pre-production.

Him and SLJ as Nick Fury are the two that I can't imagine anyone else ever playing the role.

JK has had that role for like 20 years now, who's next closest, RDJ?

Yup. I really hope we get a spider slayer arc, or maybe classic scorpion, so we get jk as a full on villain.

This was not really received very well at the time. The reaction was close to Heath Ledger's Joker casting.

But he turned out to be perfect.

Other than being too tall, which honestly didn't really hurt the portrayal, Jackman was fantastic. The only issue was the writing, and the movies not letting him be full on violent.

Yeah, I remember that. It was because people thought it would be stupid based off his Johnny Storm role. Even I did a bit. We were all wrong. Couldn't have gotten a better Steve Rogers.

Now that I think about it most of the casting choices were actually terrible and not true at all to the comics
I suppose if you want to clarify it as 'who would reach non-comic fans the best' then yes the choices were pretty good. But as a comic fan most of them were absolutely terrible.

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is the only perfect casting.

Hugh Jackman nailed the part in every way but he's not a perfect casting because of his height so they had to do heavy editing to make him work.

RDJ while others said is fantastic in the movies isn't really like Tony Stark in the comics.

Technically he is, because the comics have changed to mimic his personality more. But was definitely true when he first debuted.

Yeah though that's the comics refitting the movies which is something that every character went through. They changed Mystique's natural skin to be scaly in the comics so it would match the movies.

Well, there's good change and there is bad change. RDJ's portrayal is an improvement to the Tony Stark that was in the comics before RDJ's debut as Tony Stark.

Yeah. That's essentially the same case with Heath Ledger's joker. That said they didn't dramatically change the Joker to be just Heath Ledger's interpretation in the comics and overall I prefer it that way. Let the performance stand on its own.

Hugh Jackman was not a good casting choice. Sure, it's hard to see somebody else as Wolverine now but I put that more down to the fact that he played the character for so long and that in all bar one of the films he was shoved down our throats.

Yeah, pretty much all anybody knew him from was the hacker from Swordfish, and that wasn't very assuring.

That's true for joker hes a icon. Iron man wasnt cared about by the mainstream crowd before mcu. I dont always agree with changing a character buy it benifitted stark.
