I dunno, Im vaccinated in a generally vaccinated area with friends who are all vaccinated...the risk should be pretty low and Im at the point where I really just dont want to worry about it anymore

Honestly, its a bit heartless but best case scenario is that it culls the unvaccinated quickly and has no major mutations.

All those people are going to inevitably get COVID anyway so might as well get it over with quicker.

Mostly not, currently.

It does seem to be more contagious to vaccinated people than the original strains, which is slightly concerning, but even if I do get it I'm not worried about serious symptoms. The real issue I'm more concerned about is that it spreading out of control produces another variant that our current vaccines can't handle, which at the rate its upping infections is starting to look more likely as time goes on.

It's still not a huge concern yet... but that doesn't mean it isn't one.

Remove from the pool of people who can spread it. Immunity through infection is almost as good as immunity through vaccination.

Very concerned, it's ravaging Indonesia right now. Also, even with our milder vaccine (Sinovac), it noticeably helps preventing infection and harsher symptoms. So get jabbed if you haven't.

Decently concerned; I'm going to continue working from home/not doing indoor stuff/wearing a mask to the store etc for the immediate future (probably would have done otherwise if cases had continued to fall). It looks like Pfizer/Moderna are probably around 80something% effective against delta infection vs 95% for the original strain, and even if I'm still well protected against hospitalization/death I would really like to not get sick and/or infect other people.

Also if delta has an R_0 of around 6 and (current) vaccines are only ~85% effective against it you need basically everybody vaccinated for herd immunity which is... clearly not happening, so that's really not great.

My city hasn't started vaccinating people under 65 yet, and I live just outside Tokyo which is spiking thanks to the Olympics. The percentage of delta variant cases is also rising apparently

So yeah I'm concerned and screw the IOC

As a vaccinated hospital worker who sometimes treats and evaluates patients with covid, a little concerned.

Mostly because of all of the PPE I have to wear in the isolation rooms. If it gets really bad again and outpatient services need to be halted, I'll probably get furloughed again.

No, but the Delta variant mutating into something that can bypass the vaccine will be very inconvenient if it happens, to say the least.

Also, I pray that no areas of the country end up with full ICUs again.

Honestly? I hope the world catches up in vaccinations and then it gets worse. I think a plague that cuts down tens of millions of people dumb enough to not get vaccinated is one of the ways humanity gets out of the mess its in.

The only concern I really have at this point is a superdelta mutation showing up.

Mirroring what everyone else has said. I'm not too concerned because I'm vaxxed, as is all my family. Plus I live in a highly vaxxed area.

I'm not worried about the adult unvaxxed because 95% of those people are morons. I do feel a bit bad about people who cannot, for legit medical reasons, can't get the shot but those people would already be taking every precaution.

I worry about a "super" mutation but hopefully we'll get some booster shots in the fall/winter to help with protection rates.

If we can get COVID again...well...that would suck, but so is life? I mean it's not look there is anything to do anymore

Considering how bad I took it the first time (Long COVID effects, not the actual COVID which was just a fever and weakness for 3 days) I will probably die if I get it again so that would suck

Also, I pray that no areas of the country end up with full ICUs again.

Unfortunately we already have some in Missouri and Arkansas, and anywhere the vaccination rate is low will follow. Surgeries are being postponed again at some hospitals. It sucks.

They key detail with this whole situation is how the delta variant is spreading so rapidly that, as long as there isn't a significant extra mutation that confers immune escape (worse than the Beta/South African variant), this wave will probably have a more rapid peak and dropoff than past ones. A lot of hospitals are anecdotally reporting to media that they're seeing "younger patients" which, given the much higher vaccination rates among older demographics, makes sense. Without any solid evidence that severity of disease is any worse with this variant than with the original or Alpha/British variant, you have to assume the breakdown of the demographic spread is similar to before.

So if such a massive volume of young people are driving the uptick in hospitalizations, it has to be assumed that the proportion of undetected, asymptomatic infections is greater than before.

To actually answer the question, I'm concerned for further mutations but not terribly so. And for my own safety, I'm vaccinated and so is my entire extended family so we should be okay. I am still wearing a mask indoors. My own county has a mediocre to poor vaccination rate.
