Went into this series fairly blind.

Holy shit. Guess Im reading the manga now. I ended up starting with episode 2 and finished with episode 1 per a recommendation from a friend. I had no idea what I expected of this series, but it wasnt this.

If you want to read the manga, you would probably need to start over from the beginning. The first episode only covered a small portion of the first plot arc before the flashback, and it generally cut a lot of the supernatural/magic related stuff to put more focus on the political aspects of the series.

Also the author died a few months back so the series will go unfinished. (At the very least, there's some degree of resolution on one of the major plot threads/goals so it's not a total loss.)

I would start from the beginning of the manga, yeah. Make sure you get the good translations instead of the super old janky one.

Berserk may not be finished, but it's a fucking wild ride and I would still recommend it to anyone.

Also the Berserk manga has literally the best manga art ever. Not as much in the beginning (although it's still very good, especially the Eclipse, holy shit), but the art continuously improves. A lot of pages in second half of Berserk could make a good painting to hang on your wall.

The Black Horse translations are the best ones, although they're official and might be hard to find without spending money

Actually not sure if Berserk got a better fan translation to replace the original one decades ago. If people start calling Guts 'Gatts' then you know the problems are starting lol

Ah, I remember Guts's trusty sidekick, PAK. Considering I devoured the manga back in like 2007-08, maybe I should reread the whole thing from the official translation.
