I always found Cops to be boring af. Back in the day I preferred Real Stories Of The Highway Patrol. Cheesy reenactments are much more entertaining than watching the police harass brothas.

Thats where I learned what to do and how to act around cops. Havent watched the show in I dont know how long, but not having cable limited my choices and Cops was a main thing I watched late at night. One of the best theme songs ever too.

Is Cops even real or is it all acted out? If it's real isn't it pretty dangerous for the cameramen do be filming that kind of shit? Like there must be some episodes where the cameraman gets fucked up or something

I mean, they fall and shit. But they are with cops. People don't actively battle it out with cops 99% of the time, and if they do, they are gonna lose. And if they do wanna fight the police, they aren't gonna rush the cameraman.

Edit: they do have to run all the time tho and they get winded alot lol

I'm curious to know what's the craziest thing that's happened to a cameraman of the show. Like I get what you mean by there being such an extremely small chance of anything happening to them because of the reasons you listed, but there's gotta be that small 1% chance that does happen where they get attacked/hurt/rushed etc.

I vividly remember one where a guy was busted with weed. The cop was just rummaging around before they left and a bag of white stuff fell out of a bag, and he literally yelled "oh shit! Hey, I found some real drugs!"

I watched some clips with someone recently. They had a guy held by two police and were ready to cuff him. They tazed him 3 times anyways begging them not to.

I watched it off and on in the early 90s.

I mostly remember the guy or guys hiding under the child pool, the guy covered in flour, then the guy who appears to have Coke residue under his nose.

It's repulsive yet fascinating. Watched it for many years, starting since I can remember. Probably helped to normalise my view of police behavior. But even as a kid I often asked why the police were so mean lmao.

I remember one of the early episodes, there was this one Miami cop. I don't know if he was playing it up for the camera but he was pretty much a real version of a sleazy cop from an 80s movie. Driving up like he really doesn't care, smoking on camera, being snide to everyone.

Here's the craziest thing I ever saw on COPS

Judging by everyone's thick ass mustache I'm guessing it was filmed in the 80's. They got a call about a shooting. Show up at the house and this hysterical crying woman let's them in. She takes them into a back bedroom and there's a guy laying on the floor and his stomach is just a pile of blood and guts. They didn't blur it out or anything. One of the cops says a witness told them he got shot by a shotgun at point blank. I'm thinking Holy Shit this can't get any crazier, but then the head guy, probably a sergeant or sheriff or something shows up. This mother fucker walks into the house and first thing he does is light up a giant ass cigar! He's just walking around the house puffing on this Cuban looking stogie and he gets to the body, takes one look at it, and says "Yup, that boys dead." Shit was wild back in the day.
