We had a light dinner by candlelight with polite and lively conversation, then took a leisurely stroll by the river under the moonlight.

She's quite the lady and I dared not besmirch her good name. I walked her to her door and as I bid her goodnight with a bow, laid a gentle kiss on her dainty fingertips.

My mother hasn't taken a leisurely stroll for 20 years. She just sort of hobbles along with a walker or cane.

Also, she's not really capable of polite and lively conversation, mostly just mildly bemused and genial conversation about sasquatch and aliens. Or trying to explain the plot of British mystery shows to you, but getting half the details wrong and forgetting who the actors were.

I put it to you, good sir, that you were, in fact, dating an impostor!
