Early women: "Wow, I can make another human in my belly."
Early men: "That's pretty awesome. I guess that means you gotta keep your hair long and do what I say?"
Woman: "What?"

Thats what centuries of suppression and control does to people over time. The next generation just rolls with it because that is how they are raised

Thing is while the women were having babies the men were expected to do double duty hunting.

so that means women are subservient?

imo wouldn't that mean that men would be protective of women, as they were revered and valuable?

One of reasons armies were men only was because women and children were the most important citizens. They had to be protected to preserve the future of the society

The men back then felt that if they were struggling, providing, and taking risks they should at least receive compliance from anyone benefiting. They wanted assurance that the people they invested in wouldn't just dip out, nullifying all the hard work. If he set the table he wanted to be the head of the table.

Nowadays women are largely not dependent on men yet old toxic ideals linger. It is best that we move on from these outdated notions as soon as possible.

I feel like this goes hand in hand.

Because women were protected, they also were treated like children. Big, strong man must get food and keep us alive. Woman cant help. Big, strong man knows what to do. Apparently everywhere.

Nothing about it needs to make sense. For most of history men dominated women because they could and no one did anything to stop them. Once they were in control they did everything they could to keep it that way because they wanted other men to benefit from it the same way they did.

It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

Basically what's been said, but to add to it:

Originally it was men that took the risks, and got the reward. It was to protect the "defenseless woman and children" but over time the men saw they were the ones taking the risk, and were strong enough to take control. They got tired of doing all the heavy lifting and getting less out of it, so they decided to set there own rules, which in turn became the patriarchy.

Originally woman were happy to do all the extra duties in exchange for the protection and food. It was almost like symbiosis; but then the men started wanting more out of them, and they agreed out of necessity (thanks to the patriarchy being in control). But as society moved forward, ideals stayed the same even though woman started working too. It's all sorts of fucked up, but rooted in the origin of society.
