Fully vaccinated (no booster though) and I've previously had COVID. Just tested positive with symptoms. Same for the wife.

My symptoms aren't as bad as when I previously had it. Just bad a aches/pains and a messed up throat. My wife has worse symptoms with a really bad cough/mucus and not breathing as well. She's not hospitalization bad. It's the complete opposite of the first time we got it, I was really bad with symptoms and she was asymptomatic.

We had talked about getting booster shots a while back but just hadn't gotten around to it yet.

Why are so many professionals athletes getting covid yet its not killing them let alone harming them much longer than a few days? We see them 2 weeks later performing at an elite level once again?

its almost like being in great shape and taking care of yourself has a huge impact on how your body handles this virus or any virus

yet strangely that often get ignored as we shove vaccines into morbidly obese arms hoping thatll finally end covid

The one sports team with a widespread COVID outbreak pre-vaccines had their season interrupted for nearly a month, had severe symptoms and struggled with fatigue when trying to get back to playing.

It also spread to most of their loved ones who typically had even worse cases.

The reason athletes are returning swiftly now is because by and large they are almost all vaccinated.

Hell one of the earliest athletes to come down with COVID ended up having a heart complications and had to sit out an entire season with myocarditis.

I got my booster a couple weeks back.

Did Moderna for first two doses, and Pfizer for booster. Only had sore arm. Was feverish for second dose, earlier in the year.

Getting the booster on Thursday. Didn't have much of a reaction on my first two(Pfizer) outside of a slightly sore arm.

i'm glad he's saying that but the words "too little too late" inevitably come to mind.

if he had said this when he was actually president instead of "covid affects virtually no one," he could have saved a lot of lives!

Are people only against getting vaccinated or boosted for political reasons or is there more? Heck, why would they oppose it just for politics? Stuff like this makes me wonder if the pandemic is faked before I take a step back and realize how difficult it would be to fake a global pandemic. These people have no darn clue what they're saying.

It's the other way around, politicians take advantage of the situtation as a way to gain votes. Anger is the easiest way to get people to rally behind you as they are less likely to think critically.

Look at how many politicians who claim to be anti-vax, but were found to have gotten the vaccine long ago.

Polarization in America is so bad that whatever one side takes a stance on the other immediately has to take the opposite stance. This leads to crazy views from both different sides in many cases. The pandemic is nothing different!

I tested positive 10 days ago with symptoms starting 12 days ago. First few days were aches and pains followed by sore throat then a cough that got progressively worse mixed in with a couple of days of feeling completely lethargic. On Day 12 now I still have a minor dry cough / flem in my throat. I sometimes have to cough when talking which I guess is slight breathlessness.I thought like 4-5 days ago my symptoms were on the verge of disappearing within a day but they keep being niggly persistent.

Symptoms this time didn't feel as severe as last time but they are definitely still there and niggling. It's why I was surprised when the CDC revised to 5 days of isolation. After 5 days my symptoms, cough/throat stuff especially, was basically at its heaviest.

I think the 5 days is supposed to be for asymptomatic cases.

yeah no, just stick to 10 days after asymptomatic, not "resolving." the 5 day thing is entirely a business driven one and pretty sure they've said as much, just in fancier language. it's what came about after the Delta CEO emailed 'em, this is their "compromise" to getting people back in the workplace, not the actual healthy measure.

meanwhile i'm in for round 2 babyyyy. like half of NYC right now really. ....but much better than Ulti's having it. Ulti - don't be afraid to just go to a hospital, especially if you get any headaches and have trouble breathing. that's part of the "confusion" symptom of lack of oxygen.

This doozy happened today. Dude calls off last night. Says my wife is extremely sick and having trouble breathing. I am sick also but not like her (sounded sick at work earlier) says I can't take her to the hospital because they will not allow me to be with her and isolate her so we were recommended to go to the doctors office in the morning and get tested and looked at. I will let you know tomorrow on results.

Doesn't let us know. So I call him. He says I feel a bit better. Still sick. My wife is a bit better too but still very sick. I said what were your results? He says we didn't get tested. Says I am gonna call back onto work for tomorrow then on my off days over the weekend use them to feel better for Monday.

I am like uh... you should really get tested and if you are sick, I can't make you not call back on but you should think long and hard about that because you could be getting others sick and it might not be a good idea to do that.

He said he would think about it.

Interested to see when I go in tomorrow morning if he is there and if he is visibly sick, don't be surprised if I send him home too.

People don't seem to care about infecting others much... just as yesterday was a funeral for a coworker of ours that died from covid.

I think sadly in a lot of cases it will boil down to money. People can't afford to take the time off work whereas last year people were getting paid to stay at home. Omicron is for sure more contagious but it's also a lot easier for it to be spread when there's a lot more people working, a lot more people out and about and it's far more likely sick people work through it rather than isolate at home.

Still think this particular virus should be largely dealt with within a year or two. More scared about the possibility of other epidemics breaking out.

I think the advantage in infection reduction implied here is almost certainly exaggerated (breakthrough cases are more likely to be mild, and therefore presumably more likely to be either untested or home-tested, never making it in to the official data), but still a pretty good illustration of the benefits of vaccination for omicron even with more frequent breakthroughs compared to delta.

I got my booster shot yesterday alongside the rest of my family.

It doesn't matter how much data they show or put out, idiots are still gonna walk around with their fingers in their ears going "nope nope nope vaccine bad"
