Payzmaykr 07/27/21 8:22:48 PM #1:	Aunt Jemima (sp) got canceled and now I just saw a commercial about them gleefully turning Uncle Bens into Bens Original. They took their pictures off the packaging and stuff. I get how some people said Aunt J represented slavery, but Uncle Ben?? He was just some guy who liked making rice. This whole thing is getting ridiculous. Why not replace them with a more modern African American person? Uncle ben is because the title was used to belittle black men. Simple. Black people aren't mourning the loss of these black fictional characters from syrup and rice boxes or clamoring for replacement representation on them. They weren't positive portrayals of black people and they're fine left behind altogether, they don't really need to be replaced with new black people, and the companies probably just wanted to move away from the issue altogether rather than risk messing it up again. If you care about representation in media then fight for more positive portrayals in upcoming movies, books, tv, games, etc. because that's what will really help. --- Talking about video games? it's ok to just disagree with each other on the internet.
