what is galcian's deal btw. like is he supposed to just be a normal guy? if so why did he turn into a looper when he died

in my prequel fanfiction that deals with time travel through the dark rift, he's going to be the founder of glacia -- his looper spirit elcian gets sucked into the past and re-embodied, where he founds the city under the ice and pioneers the development of the gigas

i havent published any of it yet but ill probably put it on ao3 if i ever get to a spot where im happy with it. but it's mostly focused on original characters -- a few characters from the original game appear through dark rift nonsense (the dark rift works like a closed timelike curve, and everyone who's inside the rift when it collapses travels back to the point where it was formed)
