Obviously if they go around trying to hurt people it's mostly illegal.
But like are they allowed stop outside a business owned by black people and talk about how they want to kill black people so long as they don't actually say they will do it/intend to commit a crime?

Maybe it's a quirk of America with the whole free speech but you'd think being part of a group that literally engaged in terrorism is... illegal.

Query: What is a freedom of speech?

Also, it's easier to let these groups semi-propagate so you can more easily keep track of them

That's when you go arrest somebody.

But no, a bunch of racist rednecks wearing sheets up on some hill is not illegal - at least if they're not tresspassing.

This is so critical and something I'm still peeling the layers off of. This country is rooted in white supremacy and it's in every facet of life to this day. So of course we allow these things in the name of "free speech." Sickening.

It should be shut down, but its basically a good ol boys network, now. If they still did organized violence, they would be classified as terrorists, but they saw the writing on the wall and took over the workforce.

There was a guy at my school (like six years older than me) who was a proud member. His dad (fire chief) and uncle (Sherif) were also in it. They basically made sure that only people in their little circle got hired.

The rest of the group were, from what I was told, mostly business owners who did the exact same thing. This is how 18 year old NEETs (their kids and family) got instantly hired for nice salary jobs when the rest of us worked minimum wage. This was in Baton Rouge, the capital city of Louisiana, so I guess I shouldnt be surprised. They set the guy at my school up with his own trucking business that makes serious bank, so Im definitely sour about that. I got the heck out of that state ASAP.

Tf is this shit? So let me get this straight.

Despite cancel culture being a thing, targeting people who accidentally use the wrong pronouns. These KKK members can become fire fighters and cops and be loud and proud about their KKK status? AND have enough capital to just give someone enough capital to start up his own trucking company?

Wtf is going on in Baton Rouge?
They knew how to communicate it with winks and nods, but the guy at my school was the odd man out for talking about it publicly. The sherif and fire chief didnt make their affiliation public, but everyone found out eventually. I dont specifically know about how they got all that money, but I know that family would sue multiple people/businesses every year, so that might have had something to do with it.

The numbers for KKK are miniscule because their membership went to "patriot" groups, Proud Boys, and militia movements which are larger than ever.

On topic, they use the "freedom of association" clause in the Bill of Rights. So long as they don't engage in active terrorism they can get away with it. Individual members caught for violent acts usually claim they were acting alone to protect the group.

Their previous terrorism - as America's 1st terrorist group - does not count against them, unfortunately.

Ideally they would have been banned by the 1920s. But When "liberal" Woodrow Wilson is screening - and by all accounts cheering - Birth of a Nation in the White House, there was no chance.

America grew up with the Klan and too many Americans got used to "rats in the kitchen". You're making a valid argument, but how many places in America can you still see a Confederate flag on a car/house/etc.?

The shit is woven so deep in America's fabric, you'd have to unravel the whole garment to get it out.

Protip: This is how people protect white supremacists groups, by pretending they're not a threat. They'll tell you "They have so few numbers" and "No one takes them seriously".

It's just a way to get people to not focus on them, or the fact that these people are among our lawmakers, and law enforcement.

Theyre not going to stand out in the open and wait for people to mark them as racists. Having Nazi tattoos also isnt something you can attribute to solely being a racist in U.S courts they cite some bullshit like appreciation for Germany despite no one in Germany wanting to associate with that.

The courts only work on what you can prove, not what you can conflate unless the conflation is so strong that you can guess beyond a shadow of a doubt.. theres also the problem that these KKK members have roots within the prison system so youre basically sending them to the place thatll fuel their positions even further

Now we have all this pro-America movement because of Trump which lets these people hide right under the guise of patriotism.. its a load of shit we live in

Anti-Semitism, anti-Catholic, anti-immigrant (non-Protestant whites at the time) - part of the original MAGA movement, if not coining the phrase. Prohibitionist - 'cause those n-words in their jook joints are killing the country!

Some of those positions shifted over the years though.

Not really much to celebrate about them.
