i've never once seen a line at the self checkout area, open registers are open registers.

The quality of cashier has really gone down over the years. I remember going to the store with my mom as a kid and having people ring up a full cart in like 60 seconds. Now it seems where ever I'm at, they intentionally move as slow as possible.

Its because people are impatient. I don't give a shit how long a line is, i'm in no rush when i'm at the store.

Whats funny is watching somebody with an overflowing cart struggle with scanning things and not doing what the CPU is telling them, when they couldve been out faster in a regular line.

I've seen this happen way too many time. Just people who are inconsiderate and think they can handle shit on their own when they can't.

i tend to play around on my phone during the wait until it nears my time to checkout.

There are 20 self check out stations at the walmart I go to and about 3 actual cashiers at any given time.

Despite thrre being 10-15 normal lanes, none are open so how is anyone supposed to use them when the store is too cheap to employ a cashier.

Thankfully this isnt all of them, but the ones at a store near me are like that for some reason.

Usually when the person in front of me is ridiculously slow, and there's no alternative for me, I deliberatelyget my check-out over and done with at lightspeed, just to show everyone that they can choose not to be slow/inefficient/dumb.

Of course, no one ever notices.

Full carts at EXPRESS checkouts? the "12 item or less" lines? fuck those people. Those are the fast lines. Wish the damn things would forcibly end the transaction after the 12th item just to force these people to pay six times and inevitably get pissed off. Maybe they'll get the message.

If yall wanna really think about it this goes deeper than just people using the self checkout lane and being slow as fuck. People in general don't give a shit if they hold up the line or not, if they're being considerate of others or not. I see it at the bank and DMV as well. I think it comes down to lack of self-awareness mostly kinda like how slower drivers don't know that they're slow drivers.
