You could argue that it made gorey superhero stuff popular before The Boys did. I dont think its really similar to Peter Parker because (comic spoilers) Mark doesnt really care about keeping his secret identity and lowkey considers doing normal human stuff beneath him. He quits college halfway through and focuses on being a hero full time. Plus later on he makes some really crazy choices that Peter would never make, like breaking a supervillain out of prison to help the villain achieve his goals, resulting in the deaths of millions of people.

I meant Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the sense that -- when Invincible first started out anyway -- it did the whole go to school and save the world thing that Spider-Man debatably popularized in superhero stuff. Except, instead of having spider powers he's basically Superboy (in terms of power set).
