Zigzagoon is faster, the question is if it's incredibly low attack stat is going to offset the healing from gigadrain every other turn. I'm giving gloom the nod.

While Zigzagoon can pull off a surprise Z-Move Subzero Slammer using Blizzard, it doesn't have enough power to KO Gloom in one hit with it or even enough with a Breakneck Blitz from Double-Edge and this is without Eviolite.

Gloom has several ways to KO Zigzagoon in one hit including but not limited to Petal Dance, Solar Beam, Bloom Doom from Petal Dance, All-Out Pummeling from Drain Punch. Gloom can keep itself healthy with Giga Drain, Drain Punch or Moonlight. Gloom has the various status powder moves, also has access to Eviolite.

The only way I can see Zigzagoon winning is getting lucky with paralysis from Thunder Wave and paraflinching with with Headbutt/King's Rock.

Going off the pokedex/bulbapedia entries:

Gloom gives off a smell that can knock out opponents (and the smell can somehow reach over a mile away... which sounds insane). It's drool is also sticky (and sweet... but still atrocious smelling).

Zigzagoon is curious, walks in zigzags, finds things, and plays dead. Galarian (dunno if forms would be separated out) likes to start fights.

I think this would go to Gloom. It's half the weight so it might get knocked around a bit but it's scent would probably just knock out the Zigzagoon. And then Gloom can just drool everywhere to stick Zigzagoon in place.

Zigzagoon with belly drum and tail slap while holding lum berry wins, even if gloom has focus sash. This assumes no z moves or dynamax.

Zig can also substitute before belly drum.

This assumes though that gloom leads with sleep powder

I lost the second one in a technical sense because I Sunny Day'd but I forgot I put a Choice Band on Gloom. I had to Dynamax which apparently cancels out Choice items. More user error than anything but I'll still admit I lost that one.

So did you guys arrive at a decision after trying it?

I think zig is too weak
gloom has almost double every base stat except speed
Not to mention Gloom gets an excellent stab move with Petal Dance (120BP)
