There's a game mode where you play as beast Ganon, but it's insanely simple, even compared to the usual style of musou games, and the damage scaling is a mess. Even tiny bosses can shred you in a second.

I'm actually not a huge fan of it, myself. It's cool once or twice but the variety just isn't there.

Really? I didn't play it much due to it being boring to me, but from what I did play it felt like it was supposed to basically be a power trip. I'm guessing it gets rough later on then?

It is boring, honestly. Ganon has three moves without use of the boss special attacks, which are mostly just used to open other bosses weak points.

It does yeah, same with the Cucco challenge. Being big ceases to be fun or interesting when all you are is a huge target.

In the NES version of Godzilla, you're deliberately overpowered. Enemies like tanks and airships do absolutely minimal damage and die in one hit. You can lose in boss fights against enemy monsters of the same size, and there are occasionally red rings which can sap all of your stamina in an instant, but you're pretty much unstoppable for 80% of the gameplay.

Yuri from the Shadow Hearts game. For 90% of the game you can change form to exploit enemy weaknesses or buff your strengths against them. That last 10% when you unlock your final fusion is basically an I win button.

Oh Calintz from Magna Carta Tears of Blood with the secret counter fighting style. The game is basically playing DDR on beginner with a controller at that point except even easier.

Kiryu, especially when you get Tiger Drop, even in the games where it's not quite as good.

Majima is also pretty busted in Y0 with the Mad Dog style and the stab counter.

Since they were brought up, Kiryu and Majuma are at their most powerful in Yakuza 0 because you can increased their stats to the point that bosses die in one hit, even on Legend.

Oh yeah I remember day 1 I found a ToD that required no starting resources lol. All because her flinging garbage or whatever was so OP lol. And then IIRC they had to nerf her :<

Oh wait, speaking of PS All Stars, pre-patch Toro was broken af. You could just keep using his aerial move that launched him upwards to the point where no one could touch you, then use his move where he floats down slowly and gains some meter, then repeat that until you can just wipe out everyone with his level 3 lol. IMO thats damn near Ivan Ooze tier

Ash in bare knuckle 3 (Japanese version of streets of rage 3). Incomplete move set cause he was a character gotten through a cheat code but his power was heavily increased to compensate. Run around and limp wrist smack enemies to death with ease.

On that note estel and Shiva on streets of rage 4. I originally would struggle on normal mode but I can steamroll the first two levels of mania+ difficulty with estel and walked through arcade hard mode (arcade mode means game over you start from level 1) without dying once.

Can't believe I forgot this one.

Gideon Wyeth, from Advent Rising. It starts as a pretty standard third person shooter in a sci-fi setting, with rocket launchers, assault rifles, etc.

Then, partway through the game, you learn that humans are being hunted to extinction because they are an ancient race of ultra-powerful beings who forgot their lineage over time, and a malicious alien collective called The Seekers views them as an existential threat. From that moment on, Gideon receives training from a friendly coalition of aliens regarding how to unlock that potential. It starts simple enough, with the ability to push and lift things with his mind, but over time he learns to make energy shields and fire ice projectiles.

These powers become stronger as they're used, so by the end of the game he's capable of things like: a completely invulnerable forcefield in a sphere around his body that deflects projectiles and passively knocks nearby enemies away, the ability to move so quickly that he can dance between projectiles fired from emplaced gun turrets, and the ability to pick up an entire platoon of soldiers all at once to throw them off their ship and into space. All of these powers have long energy bars and quick regeneration, so they're essentially unlimited.

It's a great game, even though it has some dumb glitches and it's kind of short. The thing that sucks the most is that it ends on a cliff-hanger and never got a sequel.

End game of Secret of Ever has two spells that breaks the game

1. Barrier makes you invulnerable to any kind of damage
2. Energize charges your weapon super fast making you do max damage

You must have that confused all the characters are basically carbon copies of each other and the race mostly just restricts your class & determines your origin quest.

Normally mages in Origins have a mana pool that limits how many spells they can cast, but as a blood mage you can turn you HP into a mana pool instead. This allows them to cast all their spells without seriously depleting their pool, since you can turn off Blood Magic to use a health poultice then turn it back on after the cooldown wears off. And that's before getting into their Blood Would spell, which has massive crowd control thanks to the wide AOE, Mass Paralysis, and unblockable damage over time effect.

Arcane warriors (a specialty) get a bunch of buffs to their stats at the cost of Mana drain. Blood mages make it so you lose health instead of Mana. With a little healing it's possible to keep the buffs up indefinitely making you basically invulnerable.

Additionally blood mages get a powerful AOE spell that disables all enemies and causes fairly significant damage while you're killing them.

Shanks in OPPW3 too. Not the most offensively OP but he has a mechanic where he can infinitely slow time down to a crawl so he's pretty much invincible

IIRC there was a patch that nerfed the AW/BM combo later in the game's life so see if there's a downgrade mod or prepare to be underwhelmed.

Normally you'd be correct, but that's why you're support to use equipment that "improves blood magic" by reducing how much health you need to pay for spells. After that you use things like Rock Armor to boost defense even higher and play around with the other powerful crowd control spells to stay alive and out of reach.

To add on what Dabrikishaw said, as a blood mage you also get to make much better use of sustained abilities since they don't have to worry about said abilities taking away the resources you use to cast spells. Since you just use HP as your resource instead of mana, you can just use up most of your mana bar on keeping sustained abilities up.
