I was just posting in regards to single gear bikes and not actually fixies. How those got so popular is beyond me. That definitely seemed to be the driving force behind them. They seem like they still make up a decent market share somehow though. Also going brake less is far more common than not with high end bmx riders... so technically no bike needs brakes, but you're average rider is a hell of a lot better off with them.
