A wild confrontation occurred between a transgender councilwoman and Star Wars store owner over a sign that is deemed transphobic

Tiesa Meskis got into a 5 minute shouting match with Don Sucher, the owner of Sucher & Sons Star Wars Shop in Aberdeen, Washington over his sign.

She can be heard yelling "Trans women are women. That sign is bulls***"

He says "You're nuts. I'm telling you that as a man, that's bulls***."

He said he was expressing his freedom of speech with the sign and that if nobody agreed with it then they were free to leave his establishment but his sign is for REAL women and men only.

Meskis says the sign is demeaning to trans women and wanted him to know it was hurtful and said "We are people. We are who we are and we all want to be accepted in our community"

But Sucher didn't give a tinkers toot on how it made them feel and said "I don't give a s*** about feelings anymore. Do you think i care about some s*** feeling? Absolutely not! This is why our country is s*** right now because are governing on feelings and not on truth and telling it like it is. Don't give me this lgbt crap about accepting someone's personal choice when i don't have to accept it. That is my freedom. They are not right in the head"

Sucher says the sign is still up today and says everyone loves it but Meskis says there are people who hate the sign as well..

Meskis tells the Washington Examiner that Sucher has every right to express himself but that she had a right to tell him how she felt and that it could have gone about it a less offensive way and that trans people are people too and they are who they are who wanted to be accepted

A Rally was supposed to be held outside his store but has since been cancelled

Ms. Meskis handled the situation wrong, unless her goal was to tell everyone about a struggling small business in her community, in which case, mission accomplished.

It's just an opinion and you don't have to like it. Don't patronize his store and let him go out of business if you disagree.

And in all fairness by banning Dr Seuss the 'left' has pretty much started this conversation in the first place.

No one banned Dr. Seuss, the estate decided that certain works were culturally insensitive and opted to halt future publications of those works and remove them from the market.

Saying that "The Left banned Dr. Seuss" is like saying "The Moon cancelled the Apollo program"; it's a gross misunderstanding of the situation, and completely inaccurate.

No, that is a distinction with differences. This is literally the definition of letting the Free Market work.

I mean, what are you going to do? Resort to piracy? Force the estate to continue publishing these works? Visit a Library?

I'm sure Mitch McConnell is dying to find out what happens at the end of And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, but can't now that the estate has withdrawn it from their catalogue; oh what woe we have wrought.

I'm more offended by the abominable sentence structure than anything else. Dude's got a lot to learn about brevity if he wants to be "witty" and "own the libs." This just comes across like an awkward 8-year-old trying to insult somebody but not being clever enough to do so without explaining their contrived logic for three minutes.

I also really have to appreciate the irony of saying "I don't give a s*** about feelings anymore." and then proceeding to rant about his feelings. Self-awareness is not exactly his strong point, it seems.

Not really. You generally hurt your chances of winning it, but "losing" requires actually being proven wrong and/or convinced otherwise, and yelling doesn't change the likelihood of that in any way.

That is generally the same thing as banning.

It's the same end result, but the process couldn't be more different. To ban something is to have it prohibited from sale by an external entity. To choose not to sell something is to exercise one's right to sell or not sell whatever one wants. Criticizing the former is pro-freedom. Criticizing the latter is anti-freedom. Why do these people hate freedom so much?
