...sort of? (From Google translate so excuse some of the grammar)

The epidemiologist believes that now we must try to achieve herd immunity against the coronary virus by letting it continue, but try to prevent serious illness by protecting vulnerable groups. He says the goal at this point cannot be to eradicate the virus from society.

One and a half months after the abolition of all domestic operations, a record number of people have been diagnosed infected in recent weeks, despite the fact that the majority of the population has been vaccinated.

rlfur Gunason said in Sprengisandur in Bylgjan this morning that it is disappointing that herd immunity has not been achieved with vaccination. He says that only one other way is able to achieve herd immunity, to allow the virus to spread throughout the community.

rlfur says that he has talked about it since the beginning of the epidemic that the coronary virus mutated. This has now happened with the arrival of the Delta variant across the border.
He says, however, that the vaccination was not in vain. "The vaccination has prevented a serious illness, there is no question about that," says rlfur.

rlfur says that it is necessary to respond to how many people become infected after vaccination. "We just need to shuffle the cards and come up with new plans," he said.

"We really can not do anything else," says rlfur when asked whether the nation of seventy to eighty must be allowed to become infected to achieve herd immunity.

I mean I think what he is saying is possible because so many people have been vaccinated in Iceland. I see people on my Facebook sharing this everywhere are some, "See! We should have never lockdowned!" While ignoring the almost zero deaths and high vaccination rates that Iceland has.

That was a bit tough to read.

Seemed like he said get vaxxed but the virus isnt going away, be real.

we need to find ways to work with this going forward

Seems reasonable, but some of that was up to interpretation I guess.

Sweden already tried this dumb shit. They need to get vaccinated, wear masks and social distance. I'm really not sure why certain policymakers are still trying to be "innovative" about this in ways that seriously risk public health.

But there was no vaccine then

It sounds like Iceland is going to open fully due to high vaccine rates and only protect sensitive groups

Iceland has 70% of the population full vaccinated. It also has less than 5% of the population of Sweden, and it's on an island so travel in and out can be restricted.

herd immunity won't work but they'll be fine. only feel bad for the peeps who can't get the shot for health reasons (not the unvaccinated) screw them.

Aren't we thinking epsilon and lambda may be vaccine-resistant? If that's the case and there's a good chance it is, then this is definitely the wrong time for that type of approach.
There's no actual peer reviewed studies to prove they're vaccine resistant. Two people talking about studies they've done aren't proof of anything
