Aw yeah, Vols win 38-6

I do have some concerns about our QB because he honestly didn't pass all that well. The running game was the MVP here. That being said, the Vols struggled to put up lots of points and blow out bad teams under Pruitt, so I'll still take this as an improvement as a first win under Heupel.

Well, I think there's a reason it's as long as it is. They just could have paced it better.

I don't think that's true at all. Lots of cases in recent AA games (AAI-2, AA6, and GAA) are too long. That's why their pacing feels bad. You can certainly make use of a long case time well (like 6-5), but plenty of those cases have too much padding to justify their length (like 6-1 and 6-4).

I mean, I agree to an extent, but for the most part, I don't mind the cases getting longer. The problem for me is more how they split them up. If you're going to do a single day case or a trial only case, you gotta tighten that up. G1-1 and G1-3 shouldn't be the same length. G1-4 and G2-2 shouldn't be the same length. If it's still as long as a two-day case, then just make it a two-day case. I have the same problem with 6-2. You could easily split that into two days, and it would help the pacing quite a bit.

I say that because he's not a huge Tales fan. He's generally pretty positive, true, but he doesn't love everything he plays, obviously.

Sitting through the credits now. Fight choreography was incredible, but the best part might have been that they brought back the guy who played the Mandarin in Iron Man 3.

It's been like this this entire first week but it's kind of off-putting watching the coverage of the US Open when all the commentators are all very clearly, and borderline aggressively, supporting one player.

Like they've gone all in on the "Djokovic chasing history" storyline and have even criticized the crowd at times for not embracing it as well and cheering too much for the opponent. It's weird, like watching a fan/homer stream but it's not supposed to be.

While I dont watch tennis myself, my old roommate was a big Federer fan and Ive been conditioned to reflexively root against Djokovic

Yeah, I'm rooting for the field here lol so maybe that makes it more noticeable to me.

But like the commentators almost sounded like they were trying to shame the crowd in the first round for daring to cheer for his opponent too much - when said opponent was like a teenager who was basically playing his first major and it's like c'mon now if you really can't see why a crowd might like that kind of underdog - especially when he was actually playing really well for a bit there (lack of experience in long matches probably got him because he started cramping up in the later parts of the match and clearly could not continue)

of course otoh the us open crowd is generally terrible so i almost feel conflicted but this isn't the time to get on their case lol

djokovic sux

I used to follow tennis a lot more closely, but the past few years its been a bit less interesting. Federer and Nadal have been sidelined with injuries, and most of the next-gen candidates are wholly worthless.

Which sucks because it basically rams Djokovic has free reign for the next few years.

I got the urge to replay MGS, but I also don't feel like setting up my PS3 to do it, so I decided to just watch the cutscenes on YouTube. I finished up MGS1 and I've just gotten to the Big Shell in MGS2.

Then Rose starts talking about April 30th and I froze because that's the tentative due date for the baby. What a mockery it would be for me if I forever had to associate our kid's birthday with Rose.

I'm about halfway through Wheel of Time book 6. It's still really good, but I keep waiting for Perrin to show back up! He was in the prologue, but he hasn't come back around yet. Mat has barely been around either, but I'm sure they'll show up soon.

There's some time around here in Wheel of Time where Mat disappears for a while, but I can't remember exactly at what point that is.

Though in general, I think one potential weakness of the series as it goes on is that as they introduce more characters and plotlines it becomes harder to focus on any particular thing. Obviously this also comes with its own strengths as well, but yeah.

They probably show up in the second half. They've already set up their plots with their limited exposure so far, so I'm sure they've got plenty to come. Halfway through the book means there's still a ton left!
