Alright, overall I really liked it. My only complaint is that Gunbuster itself is way too convenient >_> It solved problems instantly once it was deployed. The real battle was definitely the psyche and inner turmoil of Noriko and the other pilots, trying to find the confidence to improve and save mankind. The action of the battles definitely felt unimportant compared to the feelings of the pilots. But otherwise I highly recommend it! It was really fun!

It's not a direct sequel but it is related. It's only about six episodes long and was made around the flcl era. It's going to be a bit of a tonal whiplash coming from gun buster, because where gun buster is sort of grounded mecha, die buster is closer to gurren lagann.

The animation is really good though, and the soundtrack is really catchy. It's generally not as well liked as gunbuster but I think it is a worthy successor in its own way.
