Pretty good direct. I don't really care for the spin-offs much but I can appreciate what they're doing.

Basically confirmed now that platinum Pokmon are in the game one way or another, which should have been expected by everyone, but people trusted Game Freak too little and decided faithful remake had to be a bad thing. Lots of nice features introduced. I do like that since it seems Game Freak had different priorities than making the remake, they still made sure someone made it for us in a good way.

Arceus looked a lot less empty today than last time, also giving a much better impression of what to expect. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.

Costumes and follow-behind pokemon has me sold on BDSP. It looks better or maybe I'm getting used to it but god damn do I still really wish it looked much more.

also the male player still looks like ass, but I guess he was always one of the ugliest pokemon male players (though there's lots of great competition for the ultimate ugly title)

to be fair Dawn costumes were so great I can't remember any of the dudes

Arceus looks awesome... I mean it still doesn't look the best but it's pretty cool and I'm loving these alts & new evos

Woohoo, after 20 years, Stantler finally gets to stand in the limelight. Mega chonker Basculin is also hilarious. Kinda crazy they're choosing those two of all Pokemon to get such major focus. I assume there will be more rideable Pokemon than just those three, but who knows.

Fire/Rock Arcanine will hopefully not be dreadfully slow.

Legends definitely looked much better now, so I'm more cautiously optimistic.

Damn, there's a lot more depth seemingly to Legends than first thought. The action order and different attack styles are a cool addition.

Hyped for both of these games. I haven't played Diamond/Pearl since Platinum came out.

BDSP -
I waited half a year to get another confirmation if it's really a 1:1 remake or not
And the answer is...probably... almost a 1:1 but has a few new features
From what I noticed
1.Pokemon following you
2.Trainer customization
3.New areas in the Underground

The first two..I don't really care about at all
New areas are nice but they look like they are going to be kinda generic. I really liked how they focused on catching a Munchlax because most of us know how painful it was to get one from a Honey Tree
Still, disappointed because it seems like we won't get new forms/Pokemon, new story elements, new (real) areas, remaked areas or whatever
Also saying that the ranked battles will keep being in Sword and Shield...does it mean what? they we won't be able to transfer Gen 8 Pokemon into this? it's going to be a stand-alone title like the Let's Go games?

Legends Arceus-
Hype changed from exteremly pessimistic to cautiously optimistic
New forms! new Pokemon! the graphics doesn't look that bad and there were no frame drops this time (or at least, I didn't notice)
It also showed a little more gameplay, so there might be some point in this game after all
The map of the game looked varied and interesting. I believe I will give it a chance now

It's weird. For all the narratives about how Pokemon fans will complain about anything and are impossible to please and never happy, reception to all the stuff in this presentation seems pretty positive across the board, broadly speaking.

It's almost like showing games that actually seem to have some charm, effort, creativity, and/or time invested in them (or that at least don't actively tick off the most loyal and longtime supporters of the series) don't prompt such outcry. Really makes you think.

I dunno I'm still not completely sold on Arceus because it still looks like it runs roughly but I suppose it's slightly different. Honestly the best thing about it so far for me are the starter choices, literally can't go wrong with any of them and they included the best starter line for one of them

chibi out of battle -> normal in battle is kind of how it always was in 2D too, so I see why they went that direction.

I keep seeing people say this, but I don't really see it.

It just feels like such a copout response since a lot of people complaining just say "It looks like a mobile game" instead of pointing out actual issues or flaws. And, hell, a lot of mobile games actually look really good!

Man I really hate the new Growlithe variant. Even more so because my twitter is just filled with pictures of it today.

Pokemon with hair almost always looks awful and this is one of the biggest culprits. Just looks stupid.

So if someone wants to say they think a game as low quality graphics they might say it has mobile game like graphics.

I...might actually play a Pokemon game. I really wish Game Freak had better tech and budget still, because I swear textures on the GameCube looked better than some of those in Arceus. Breath of the Wild is on the same system and looks at least a generation ahead with a similar art style...why can't they just use the BotW engine or something? I dunno. Hopefully this won't really affect enjoyment of being in that world.

Aside from that, it looks quite awesome. And I have no interest in Pokemon.

There's one thing I noticed in the trailer, during the scene where the camera zooms out to show the large open world you can see the footage get sped up in the middle. It honestly feels like that was a portion between the close up camera and the far off camera (where things are allowed to be less detailed) where the framerate tanked and they used the sped up footage to hide it.

Nobody literally thought that it's going to be 1:1, but something close to this, and this is still looking likely
Two cosmetic improvments (customization and following Pokemon) doesn't count

As long as we don't get-
New forms
New areas (and by this I mean real new areas, not those generic dens. Stuff like Sevii Islands, Sea Mauvile, Mewtwo cave etc that were in the previous remakes)
Return of Z-Moves/Dynamax/Mega Evolution
Gen 5+ Pokemon
New gameplay feature (like the Dex Nav)
New story elements
Platinum-only content like Distortion World and the Battle Frontier

Then I consider them a lazy 1:1 remakes
The only new gameplay feature they showed are the dens and they don't even include non-Sinnoh Pokemon (or at least...not that we know of)

The dens seem to include the Pokemon that were originally obtained by having the GBA games inserted in the DS.

Technically Tangrowth in Diamond and Pearl, but it wasn't in the Sinnoh Dex in those games. Depends on if you count it because it's a fourth Gen Pokmon.

Edit: Looks like Electivire, Magmortar, and Gliscor aren't either, but they weren't in Diamond and Pearl's Sinnoh Dex either.

Yeah the ones at the end of the nat dex weren't in sinnoh dex until platinum (magnezone, froslass) but the ones in the middle were (mismagius, honchkrow)

Yeah, but the rest of them were either obtainable through swarms or the Pok Radar. Tangela wasn't available at all except from transfers, and Elekid, Magby, and Gligar all needed a GBA game in the GBA slot to appear (and all three of them needed a different game).

The worst part about dp was that there were 2 fire types even when flareon/magby should've been available :(

(No the worst part was fighting a blissey's health bar)
