I honestly have no idea, but I practically see one Texas license plate for every four Colorado plates and this is definitely a new thing. I think theyre upset with the Californians moving to Texas and Colorado is really more of a purple state than blue, so they know they can easily vote in change that we dont want, to make the state more like theirs.

Some of the are sick of Texass draconian marijuana laws, but theyre still vocal about voting red. Most of them came up here in F250s and massive SUVs, too.

California's January spike would still be a fair bit worse than Texas. Texas's slightly greater rise in hospitalizations would look mildly higher, but as a trend they're following pretty closely. California is rising almost as fast, just a little bit later. The same thing happened in December. Wouldn't be surprised if Texas hospitalizations level off after a while and then California significantly overtakes them.

My point is not that things aren't bad in Texas, it is bad. The point is that this surge in infections is nationwide. It's not substantially worse in Texas and Florida like the media wants it to be. If they just showed you the data from other states, nobody would be jumping to that conclusion.

The January spike for Cali, as a per capita it would be only slightly higher than Texas. Everywhere else on that chart, Cali is around equal or even less than Texas' total numbers despite having 33% more total population. I consider that substantially worse as would any statistician worth their salt

If this is directed at me, I'm not downplaying the severity in general, just the narrative of it being that much more severe in Republican states. The data doesn't really support that.

And the "professional" epidemiologists have certainly been making a lot of colossal errors in the last year and a half. CDC has flip-flipped on almost every bit of messaging possible.

I'd be curious to how the hospitalizations play out in California. Is it concentrated in cities or is it also bad in more rural areas?
