Negan is a fictional character in the comic book series The Walking Dead and in the television series of the same name. He is the leader of a group of survivors in the Sanctuary, called the Saviors, a group that oppresses other survivor communities and forces them to pay tribute to him.

Kinda puts the fundamental problems with the show in the form of a character. You don't really hate Negan per se but you hate the plodding pace his meandering and droning villain promos bring to the show, being the same thing week after week.

It's like what if we brought monster heel Triple H back, replaced his sledgehammer with a bat, and put him in a story about zombies rather than a wrestling show, would it be any better? Well the answer is...

He's the best Walking Dead character, though sadly the show got really bad about a season after he showed up. But his first season was the best season the series ever had.

Yes, haven't bothered with the show too much but he's great in the comics

Even when the show got really bad he was one of the few things going for it, though I stopped after the war so I can't speak for how they handled him since. And I agree with Tom that his first season was pretty good/possibly the best. Possibly didn't match some of the other highs of the show but lacked the blatant lows.
