I called one place and left a message, but is it alright to call another place within my network for reasons of... err, just in case?

Of course. They're businesses; you wouldn't think anything wrong with shopping around for lunch or a car or whatever, why's this any different?

On the other hand, there certianly are reasons why once you've gone beyond one or two sessions, you'd probably want to stay with the same one if possible. But when you're getting started, it's probably not a bad idea to shop around a bit, maybe even attend a first appointment with more than one so you figure out which one "clicks" better with you.

Yeah, I got a recommendation that you should get a consultation with multiple options and select the one you think you gel with the best. I never got around to it, but I assume it's good advice.

Good point, it's my first experience to all this so I don't really know the portions of what would really click and whatnot but I guess I'll just place my care in their hands and see how far the rabbit hole goes <_>

You have to nowadays. Most mental health professionals aren't accepting new patients. You may call 15 or 20 places before you actually find one. I'd be calling even more.
