Specifically, the rise and reign of Voldemort. Not because I give a fuck about the noseless wonder, but because the setting sounds so darkly chilling. A sort of gothic horror vibe. Death Eaters being this sort of underground cult that blends in with main society, and nobody really knowing who to trust. Transformation and mind control curses are commonplace in the HP universe. Your best friend could be a death eater sleeper agent and they wouldn't even know it. Families of nobility pledging alleigance to evil behind closed doors.

Idk, there's just a lot of fun things to do with that period of time.

Granted, the post-novels HP projects being trash, and the author revealing themself as a bit of a shithead sours enthusiasm for any new projects. But gosh, in an alternate timeline where JK didn't out-George Lucas George Lucas on self-sabotage, I would've loved a deep dive into that time period. >_>

A Voldemort story dealing with his childhood in London during the Blitz and how thar may have informed his desire for immortality, and then jumping into the creation of his horcruxes, his global journey for more knowledge/power, then capping it off with him forming the Death Eaters and starting the First Wizarding War

Legitimately one of the saddest stories I've ever read was a HP fanfiction about the Marauders growing up, going through Hogwarts, fighting against Voldemort, and ultimately dying. The entire story was just super bittersweet because - as it's fanfiction - most of it was a romance between Remus and Sirius, so most of the story is actually pretty happy.

Nah I want more stories set in the wizarding world that take place outside of England. Like I want to know what sort of shit America, Asia, Eastee Europe are up to. Plenty of stories to be told within this universe.
