I've formed about 50% of my opinion of the state based on Mississippi mud.

Having lived here all my life, my opinion of it is pretty low and it's only gotten lower in recent times. Mississippi goddamn.

The same opinion I have of every former confederate state that likes to pretend they didn't lose the war. Fuck em.

My dad's family fled there after a Tulsa-type incident in the 1940s. While they lived there, they said there were some nights where they slept with shotguns loaded outside their bedroom doors.

They still have a Confederate Memorial Day.

They made a monument with Jefferson Davis atop it that has been compared to the Washington Monument.



We had a family reunion and my brother and our CA cousins won a bid for Los Angeles. We donated and raised money for all our MS relatives who wanted to come to do so. They were amazed and in actual tears at how at least part of the country lives.

I was sent to Alabama and rural Florida on government business a couple times and the folks there always said, "but hey we're not Mississippi".

Hating on a developing country as Drumpf did is truly awful.

Last I checked, MS is part of the United States. Yet, there are many developing country type situations there.

I hear Oxford and Jackson are ok by MS standards. But it's kind of like when Texans say "but Austin, Houston, Dallas, El Paso or whatever!"

It's like CA Republicans saying "but Fresno, Bakersfield or Placerville!".

I appreciate those fighting for liberal causes in red states, but the better argument is not that "we're liberals -doing ok - surrounded by hillbilly facists in our perceived oasis".

You guys need a fucking Marshall Plan.

As someone who has lived in both of these states I can confirm the people 100% say this.

Though Mississippi is way more hickish in my personal experience.

The saddest thing is that many of the perpetrators and their families are still in prominent positions there.

There are few rules regarding "constructive criticism" other than it be constructive. Crack a book on Logic - specifically predicate logic.

You cannot blame truly patriotic Americans for being less than supportive of states that took up arms and fought against the United States solely over the right to enslave other human beings.

Yes. And truly patriotic Americans remember e pluribus unum and how all 50 states fought together in WWII.
But there will always be those who still cant get over the Civil War. Ironic coming from a non-Southerner.
