Just wondering if having easy access to a pool while growing up is a common thing.

My aunt and uncle had an in the ground pool for most of my life. Went there a lot as a kid. Had a few friends with traditional above ground pools as well.

We had a pool at school and used to swim at the local leisure centre. Didn't know anybody who had a pool growing up though.

Quire common for primary schools in the UK.

Less common for secondary but mine had one.

oh yeah this too for my much younger days! we had an outside pool in my primary school which, unsurprisingly, was freezing, although I am rather grateful I was taught to swim at such a young age

Public swim at a school, but I never really went. I like swimming, just not with a lot of people around. Now that I work at a school, I can go during staff only hours

I mean, I went to a pool a few times at the YMCA and a different community pool as a kid but it wasn't anything too readily accessible, I had to either walk like an hour to get there or ride a bike or my mom would have to take me.
