The narrative is subtle yet compelling, as Samus is basically a detective investigating the space pirates, what they want with Phazon, etc.

Atmosphere is top-notch. The lore is interesting in theory, though I'm not a fan of how it's delivered through scanning stuff.

And let's be honest, the real draw of this game is the gameplay, level design, and boss battles.

Indeed it was, mostly as a response to all the Souls games that got rated for their lore. Figured it would be nice to get another game rated on the same basis.

I'll give it a 6/10. The lore is neat, and the story of the Metroid Prime itself is pretty cool.

Interesting but also pretty standard fare when put up against similar sci-fi angles. The actual delivery of the plot and lore is more mechanical than I would like and as such it struggles to be truly memorable.

Some of the scan logs are pretty neat and it's cool piecing together the exact chain of events in the backstory. Also Science Team logs the best.

Quite the opposite IMO. Prime definitely has the better premise but I'd probably give the edge to Dark Souls overall. It's close.

I adore this game but not for its story. Great atmosphere and a few interesting bits of lore in the scans but there's not much going on aside from that.

Some of the more poetic Chozo lore scans are still ingrained in my memory to this day. That's gotta be worth something. Also no extra points really, but I'm pretty sure Metroid Prime pioneered text logs in (non-RPG) games? Definitely felt very unique at the time.

7.5. Tells its story better than the vast majority of games that took inspiration from it. However, the world and plot are better in Echoes which has one of the all time great game worlds.

8/10 because you can skip all of it. Forced story is the worst part of any game. It's easier to enjoy something in pieces when you are the one choosing to explore it, but being to easily skip parts can make some of it more intriguing. One day you might be in the mood for lore, and another day you might not.

The 8 would be higher if it were a bit more fascinating, but it's fine. The stylized delivery goes a long way.
