Worked just fine yesterday. Now I turn it on, it shows the green boot-up screen, the hello message pops up minus my avatar, and then blackness.

Are you signed up for beta dashboard? Sounds like (hopefully) the dashboard is displaying in 4k but you may not have a compatible display?

No. All I've been doing for the past week is playing Soul Calibur.

I've been looking for and trying fixes but all of them assume a black screen and only a black screen. I haven't seen one mention what to do or what may be going on if the boot-up display does show.

Refresh your display settings.
  • If theres a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
  • On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for five seconds to turn off the console.
  • Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console.
  • Clear persistent storage in Blu-ray settings. (Settings > Blu-ray > Click Clear Persistent Storage)

I can't do that. Nothing besides the two things I mentioned (plus the small menu when holding down the HOME button) show up. I just went for a factory reset instead. We'll see what happens.

Just hold the power button till it turns off and then unplug the power chord. I do it constantly. My xbox is dying.
