FUCK! I really wish this game out >_>

tl;dr if you don't know:
-Rare was working on a Goldeneye 007 remake for the 360, akin to the Perfect Dark remake
-Would have online multiplayer, achievements, the ability to switch between N64 graphics and HD graphics
-Game was basically 99% finished, only some minor graphical touches were needed in some levels.
-There was some disagreements between Microsoft, Nintendo, and MGM studios / EON and the game was cancelled because of it. Some say Nintendo wasn't happy with it, others say MGM/EON didn't want a product that didn't portray the current Bond in it (Daniel Craig)

Yeah, the predominant belief is that Eon shut it down. The theory about Nintendo doing so was an assumption by one dev, but they have no control over that since it's not their IP.

This is actually a misconception. That was apparently for the developers to show side-by-side comparisons of the two versions, nothing more and it was going to be cut upon release.

if it was released on the xbox it would probably have been forever locked to that console after the rights expired again. with the leak the community has it, preserved in a much more long lasting format

It was almost certainly EON given that a Goldeneye remake was eventually released but "modernized" with Daniel Craig in the role. If Nintendo was the problem I don't see how that remake would have been allowed to be released either.

Unfortunately it sucked since that "modernization" also involved redoing parts of the story and characters. Knowing about this remake version makes it even more infuriating, like why didn't they just take that one and replace Brosnan's character model with a Craig one. Easy.

why would anyone dedicate server costs to a game that really less than 5000 people will play online.
goldeneye was fun for the 90's but no one will play it when there's so much better shooters out now.
